Stupid Guest Tricks

i am getting a bit annoyed by the gold units on original attractions.

i mean, it was a cute idea... but, as a ride operator, i don't see the logic in creating a "special" vehicle...

it invites exchanges such as:

at book or teacups-
guest: we want to wait for the gold boat/ cup.
CM: i'm sorry, we don't have the ability to accomodate your request. we have nowhere for you to wait. you're more than welcome to get in line, and try your luck again.
CM: but we want to wait for the gold one...


carrousel-
guest: i saw the gold horse first (as he removes someone else's child from the horse).
CM: sir, please take your hands off of that woman's little boy. he was on the horse first.
guest: this is ridiculous. i saw that horse first.
CM: well, little johnny got there first. he's riding the gold horse.
guest: but i want to ride the gold horse...

((or))

CM: thank you, and enjoy the rest of your day here at disneyland
*4 or 5 guests start a photo-op line by the gold horse*
CM: knights and ladies, for your convenience, a second gold horse is located across the way next to the dumbo attraction. please make your way over there, and take all of the pictures you want.
*guests pretend not to know what you're talking about*


pan & toad-

guest: we want to wait for the gold boat/ car.
CM: i'm sorry, we don't have a gold vehicle on this attraction.
guest: are you sure? cause there's a gold one outside...
CM: *blank stare* yes, i'm sure. get in, please.
attraction: *STATION BACKUP! BEEP BEEP BEEP*
guest: but we want to wait for the gold one...


it kills our efficiency...


and, as far as the carrousel goes...

didn't walt paint all of the horses white because he wanted every horse to be "equal"?

I was just thinking that last night, when I was playing the park. I am RO at DCA, and I could see the pain you guys are going through. I think that's why they have the golden ones oustide too, but it must suck to hear "can we wait for the golden one".

Another variation on the "I want the front," theme, isn't it? I'm so glad I'm not working there, especially in Fantasyland, anymore. Capacity is bad enough on most of those dark rides, only to have people argue about who gets the gold whatever... I'll bet everyone's numbers are going down. Whatever genius dreamed up that idea should be condemned to one week of working each of those attractions with no hope of weasling out of it :twisted:

:D: I didn't even think about those issues, it is the front seat syndrome. We just opened Soarin' here at EPCOT and we get tired of the front row requests, we secretly wish they had installed a row of fake legs and feet above row 1. I can even imagine the gold wait requests nightmare! More power to you brothers and sisters, our compaint pales to yours. Hang in there...till they decide to make our lives hellish another way :)

I gotta admit Soarin' (at DL) is the only attraction where I'll pretty much always ask for the front. Really, the ride sucks from rows 2 and 3.

^I agree with that. The dangling feet kind of mess up the experience, not to mention that you can see the sides of the screen in the 2nd and 3rd rows.

the gold units aren't all THAT bad... i just wish that something would have been done to accomodate people who want to wait for them...
