Universal Mangement Tricks

I remember someone responding to the line in Guest Relations King's sig, about his buddy sending in posts written on rocks in Aramaic after quitting at Universal by commenting on that being the standard method of communications between rank and file and Management there. I always thought that was a joke.....until today.
On Sunday, I put in for a shift trade with one of my coworkers at Shrek, giving him my shift today, and covering his on Saturday. He and I both doublechecked yesterday with one of our leads to make sure that the change had been approved, which it had...
This morning, I call Team Services to triple check, and am told that they don't have the shift trade in their computer. At about the same time, they call my coworker in to cover a shift on a day that he's already working. As a result, I have to drive the 40 odd miles from Santa Ana to Universal City to report to work, where my co-worker and I talk to our leads about the situation. Our leads call the manager on duty, and sort the situation out. It ends up that I made the whole trip to work for nothing. Then I get caught in rush hour traffic all the way home....
