Oh my God! This was the most unorganized event ever! We had a bunch of managers running around shouting orders to employees. "Set up all the beef tables!" Dude runs off. I turn to my coworker. "There are a bunch of tables all over the place. How do we know which ones are beef?" One of the managers had a thick accent. Most of us couldn't understand him. I could go on and on about it. It was a zoo. The event started on time and everything seemed to go well. I am shocked that it did. I've worked about 40 events so far and this was the most f'ed up one I had ever seen. I don't know who screwed up. The night easily could have been a disaster.

I work in vending usually (which sucks a fat one right now) and I only work in Special Events occassionally. Vending sucks, but at least we're pretty organized. S.E. is so unorganized! Management really needs to get their shit together. I don't think all the managers and leads are terrible, but I definitely think a few of them need to be yelled at or something.

Oh, and to top it off I got hurt that night. I had to go to the hospital. I got four hours of sleep that night and then I went into work and I find out that I was an hour late. I wrote me schedule down wrong. Isn't that shitty?

I'm much better now. It really only hurt for a few seconds and then I wasn't in pain at all. But I still had to go to the hospital. I would tell you exactly what my injury was. But that could reveal my identity and I don't want to reveal my identity on these boards.

I work with a company that sets up and tears down special events, and let me tell you, this company has been in business for several years, but you could hardly tell. Every event is like it is the companies first time setting up an event. I think disorganization is par for the course when it comes to large events. Too many people in charge, too much stuff going on, and a desire to make it all perfect, its a recipe for disaster.

Every event i worked for, which is around 40 or so, all you said is par for the course when it comes to doing things, all happens at once in a short amount of time with the leader running around barking orders. i would trade you jobs, love that kind of stuff to do! :D:
