not a super funny radio call, but we actually had a miss-communication the other night at GRR. one of our rafts took on a little water and we couldn't get a hold of maintenance. in a moment of panic somebody called 911 and said the raft was sinking. -.- by the time all the security, paramedics, police and whatnot showed up, the story was that the raft had flipped upside down >.< and then flipped back over when everyone arrived.

SG: "Excuse me, do you work here?"
Me: looking down at obvious costume/nametag while standing in front of attraction with similar theme. "Uh, yeah."
:oweye: i thought that question was just a myth!!

One very slow day, it was our On-Duty Manager's birthday.

Just after we opened and everything was going ok, this happened:

"Unit 1 to ODM"
"Go for ODM"
"Happy Birthday."

A Pause.

"Unit 2 to ODM"
"Go for ODM"
"Happy Birthday."

Another, very brief, pause.

"Unit 3 for ODM"
"Go for ODM"
"Happy Birthday."

More of the same continued until everyone in the department had wished him a Happy Birthday. Then it got interesting...

"Department Manager to ODM"
"Go for ODM"
"Happy Birthday."

"Park VP to ODM"
"Go for ODM"
"Happy Birthday."

One of the Units didn't decide to join in the party until later.

"Unit 17 to ODM"
"ODM is not available right now. Please leave a message after the beep."

I like the Park VP. That's awesome. Sounds like your park has a proper sense of humor.

Only when attendance is slow. When we are flooded with guests, we act like we are the prophets of proper corporate procedure.

That only makes sense. Nice to have someone on that parkwide radio who has a birthday during the slow time.

Probably fake, but I've seen this before, and it popped up again today ...

Voice on radio to ship: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the south to avoid a collision.

Ship: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the north to avoid a collision.

Voice: Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees to the south to avoid a collision.

Ship: This is the captain of a us navy ship. I say again, divert your course.

Voice: No. I say again, you divert your course.

Ship: This is the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln, the second largest ship in the United States Atlantic fleet. We are accompanied by three destroyers, three cruisers and numerous support vessels. I demand that you change your course 15 degrees north, I say again, that's one five degrees north, or counter-measures will be undertaken to ensure the safety of this ship.

Voice: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

I saw a version of that that was purported to be during WWII, between a british warship and a lighthouse. (maybe readers digest?)

And I think I read a version in one of Daniel Gallerys books, in the 1970's.

You must be at DL cause at WDW the radio channels are clogged up big time.

Lately, the most repeated phrase is "Please repeat" because that switch to Motorola from Nextel is working SO WELL. :hysterical:

Many years ago, the only camera on the Matterhorn was focused on the lift. We had to watch for guests taking off their seatbelts. One zealous cast member thought he saw a guest remove his seatbelt, so he shut down the lift and we cycled out the ride. When supervision came to ask what the problem was, the cast member still had his finger on the all-call button after giving an all-ride breakdown spiel, and said, "Some a$$hole took his seat belt off" and that message boomed all over Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.
