Stupid Guest Tricks

HAHA.
I worked the past two days at the River Belle Terrace and I have one big rant I just need to share: SPOONS. I just dont understand this.
We ran out of spoons in the guest service area both yesterday and today. Today, some particularly irritated lady yelled "HEY! We're out of spoons out here!" So my partner Eileen went and told the BOH that we needed spoons in the front. Like a minute later, I hear the lady's voice above the zillions of people eating breakfast/lunch at Riverbelle "Helloooo I need a spoon to eat my clam chowder! I dont *LIKE* cold clam chowder!! It's been at least five minutes!" so then, people start gathering around the silverware. Instead of going to put their trays down, maybe starting on their salad before checking to see if we have spoons out there yet, people HAVE to gather around and look dumbfounded and start yelling, not only clogging the queue, but blocking the bussers from REFILLING the silverware! It's the most amazing thing you'd ever see. Eileen and I fetched some plastic spoons from Bengal BBQ to satisfy some of the angry and quite spoonless guests, but the irritated lady waited right in front of the drink cell even after she had received her spoons, staring off into space. I happened to be doing drinks at that moment.
"*Tsk!* Do you guys run out of spoons often???"
Me: "Well, when it's crowded like it is today, we tend to run out of spoons because people take longer to eat, they spread out, and we don't get them back to wash and refill."
She rolled her eyes with a prissy smile and said how stupid the restaurant was. Alllll because of SPOONS!

Ugh, people like that need to be hit over the head with serving trays.

I hate it when people roll their eyes and mutter something about how its somehow your or the establishment's fault. Especially when they're part of the problem themselves (the guest, that is).

So do the people who, after almost 50 years of operation, still don't understand that people in theme parks are more worried about hopping over to Indy after their meal than about returning their spoons. Receivers and management need to provide you, the CM, with the spoons you need to prevent these situations in the first place. Try as we might, we will never get Guests to return them all neatly. Would be great, but in this business you just have to deal with things like that.

Good call on running over to Bengal; it's a short run from River Belle, but you'd be surprised how many CMs would never think to do it, or would wait to call a manager to get approval out of fear of getting in trouble for pleasing the guests.

I think that the spoon crisis and overreaction of the guest is uncalled for and if i was there, being a guest i would have slapped her with a tray and dumped the hot chower on her! and then get escorted out of the park, and wait for your shift to end so you could take me home. If you dont like it cold pick up the bread bowl and dip it in and eat it with the bread.

I don't know why you all are getting mad at guests for wanting spoons. It's not the frontline CM's fault that there are no spoons, but it's still a valid complaint.
