Parking Structure Woes
Parking Structure Woes
I feel bad for the CMs out in the parking structure and tram load/unload area. Why?
Well, on my literal last visit to Disneyland, a family affair was held and we all went down to the park. We park up on top and go down to the tram. Everyone loads up onto the tram and we sit back hoping to have a final good time at the park. Low and behold the day starts off great. Tram is given the all clear signal, and right as we get ready to depart, some man just moseys up to the tram and hops onto a row. But he doesn't like the row, so he goes to another one. He does this for honestly, 2 or 3 minutes I think. Just trying to find somewhere to sit down. At one point he gets behind the yellow line, but gets back on board. So, by some divine intervention, he sits down. Be it the magical intercom telling him to get behind the yellow line, the numerous stares, or the people telling him to sit down or get off, I'm not sure.
I had to return to the parking structure to pick up something I left in my car (arcade money, if you must know). While going to my car, a woman pulls out onto a lane and starts driving...even though the arrows are pointing in the opposite direction. Shes driving straight towards me, as I put out both of my hands and start saying "Stop" even though she can't hear me. She gave me the most dumbfounded look on her face. I dart off to the side, in fear of getting flattened, as a literal wall of people are ahead of her, doing the same thing I tried. Does this phase her? Nope. Just then, a parking lot CM, sprinting to get to the car, manages to get her attention by knocking on her window.
How often does this happen? Its sad. I mean, arrows, on the ground, at in some point in time the driver should be looking at, pointing in the other direction. Does the light even attempt to turn on in their minds? :duh:
Other than that, the last day at the park for me was fun, The 80z All Stars played that night.

Re: Parking Structure Woes
It's not just guests at Mickey and Friends Parking Structure...it's the same with estranged cast members at the TDA parking structure, they are so involved in their trek home that they do well above the 14mph limit and they don't stop before they make a turn, so even if you are following the rules, you could still get mowed down or T-boned...and if you've ever been in that structure, it's fairly tight with not much room to maneuver!

No, I just don't have money, or a "Anal Pass" so, I'm sort of on the outside of the park until I get a job and start making money. :p:GMC wrote:wait, last visit? I think I'm a bit too vague or something in my posts. Sorry.

hi there, lurker/long-time disneyland guest here.. just wanted to chime in and point out that the parking deck is a great place to find fun little things left behind/dropped by distracted families. i'm always one of the last people out of the deck, so when i go back to my car i always keep my eyes peeled for the treasure/junk i might find in the empty lots..
none of it has been valuable but i think a toy or quarter is worth walking 10ft out of my way. :)
ps. i just have to say that this forum fascinates me. i had no idea there were that many stupid people all congregating at disney every day. kudos to the cms!

Speed limit is 5mph in TDA not the standard Disney 14....manderson6309 wrote:It's not just guests at Mickey and Friends Parking Structure...it's the same with estranged cast members at the TDA parking structure, they are so involved in their trek home that they do well above the 14mph limit and they don't stop before they make a turn, so even if you are following the rules, you could still get mowed down or T-boned...and if you've ever been in that structure, it's fairly tight with not much room to maneuver!

Re: Parking Structure Woes
Okay, this one probably happens alot but it is the first time I have heard it. My brother and I went to the park today and had to park on the Minnie Level. We were head for the escalator and this lady walking in front of us asks a nearby parking CM "Do we pick up the tram right here" in the middle of the minnie lot. Yep, the escalators are just there are looks. My brother said some people might get confused because the "To Tram" sign has an arrow point up.
"Look to the skies..."
*I have question too-why are the escalators to Minnie turned off alot of the time? It seems like everytime I have to park there, when I come back they are shut down. I know there is an elevator, but I and my brother, like the rest of the impatient guests ended up hiking it-I will probably pay for it tomorrow.

Re: Parking Structure Woes
Yes it happens on a daily basis!
Guests cannot...
find their cars (will swear that it was stolen!)
find there way (even though signs and arrows are everywhere!)
find there children (to concerned with getting on the tram with that huge stroller)
and find the Structure! ("I'm a passholder and I've driven around for an hour and I cant find where I'm supossed to park!")
I always find it amusing when someone approaches me and says "we parked in 8a" well... not including the Pumba, Pongo and Buzz parking lots there are no fewer than 8 parking lots that have an 8a section (one on each level on the structure, timon, pinocchio and the downtown lots)!
When guests come to Disneyland there only concern is getting into the park. They leave the car with all of the doors open, or all of them locked (with the keys and tickets inside), or without their belongings (I've seen strollers full of clothes etc. left sitting behind cars!).
Guests dont seem to care or understand that there is a reason for that 14 MPH speed limit and I am still waiting for the day when someone runs over a kid running thru the structure excited about going to disneyland!

Re: Parking Structure Woes
The other day I was in the park as a guest. At the end of the night, well 7ish at 8 closing, we get back to the car and there was a stroller sitting behind our car. The really weird thing is that there were no other cars in the immediate vicinity. The next closest car was several spots over or in another aisle.
