Can someone please clarify this for me?

I had once asked a cast member on my Christmas trip if it was alright to pass along some sort of money tip to an exceptionally good cast member. He told me very quietly that cast members are allowed to accept it after being asked to take it three times?
I haven't tried it yet, so I wanted to ask you guys about the policy on it.

With the exeption of sit down table service resturants (IE. Blue Bayou), Cast Members are not allowed to accept gratuities or tips. The rule also follows that if the CM is offered three times the CM can accept it (as not to offend the guest)
BUT the tip must be surrendered to management. Where it goes from there I have no idea (probably the manager's pockets).

Blame it on the fact that I dont need it or because of the Marine Corps background I have but I turned down a 50 dollar tip (if you want to call it that) for returning a cane to someone.
They had left it on the parade route and I ended up running into the guy at Fantasmic (Back when I was there), commented that he found it and when he learned it was me, almost instantly he pulled out his wallet.
Over all Ive gotten about 400 dollars in tips (That I turned down, obviously because of the Disney mafia).

IIRC it used to be that you'd have to surrender it to management after denying it 3 times, and then tell management which charity to have it donated to, but again IIRC they revised it lately and now we can take it after 3 denies then tell management we got it, and keep it, and they will update our w-2 forms accordingly.

I wouldn't trust this method AT ALL! Would be easier & much safer, IRS wise, to simply turn the tip down. Disney screwing with my w-2 even more than they already do? No, don't think so. Am not into this pain.

At Pizza Port, we were told no tips. Period. When Newt Gingrich and Mary Bono came in, they left a tip behind, so the managers used it to buy a buttload of pixie stix and m&ms for us. (Gee thanks.) I've never heard of the "Deny three times" rule.

What happens is this....
You must try to deny it three times
Then you must accept it
Take it to your management team
If under $75 in value:
The manager decides if you can keep it or not
Reporting it is up to them
If over $75 or it's turned over to "higher ups":
A group of big whigs meet and decide the fate
If they say you can you actually end up paying the difference(whatever is over $75)from your paycheck
If you can't then it is donated to a charity

Can we tip non-monetary items, like badges or toys or candy or thank you cards or other keen stuff?

I believe the same rule technically applies, but if it's something of very small monetary value, like say a button the CM would probably just accept it and not say anything. If it was found out, I don't think management would really care. Even if the CM did report it, I think the manager would just let them keep it.
