Oh, doubleback. You love it (for the extra pay) and want to strangle it (for dragging you out of bed) at the same time, lol.Shorty82 wrote:I just want to go back to bed! Oh man. The worst shift I ever had was when I got off the first one at 1am, and came back the next morning at 6:30am. By the time I got off the second shift and finally got to bed, I had been awake for almost 33 straight hours.Shorty82 wrote:I just want to go back to bed! I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

You know it's going to be a long day when you put on your shoes and they're still warm.joanna71985 wrote:Oh man. The worst shift I ever had was when I got off the first one at 1am, and came back the next morning at 6:30am.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Knowing I was getting paid double was about the only thing that made the day bearable.glendalais wrote:Oh, doubleback. You love it (for the extra pay) and want to strangle it (for dragging you out of bed) at the same time, lol.
Yowzers! Forget going home, I'd grab a little sleep in the car if I got scheduled like that. I may live only a few minutes away right now but that is a few minutes I'd rather not spend driving. I'd much rather sleep in my car than any of the break rooms that's for sure.joanna71985 wrote:Oh man. Oh yeah. I never even took them off, since I stayed up the whole night.hobie16 wrote:You know it's going to be a long day when you put on your shoes and they're still warm.
Amen to that! Although, I said afterwards "NEVER AGAIN".Shorty82 wrote:Knowing I was getting paid double was about the only thing that made the day bearable.

And I didn't go to bed between shifts. I don't have a car, so by the time I got home on the bus, and having to wake up an hour early, it wasn't worth going to bed (it would just make things worse).

Too bad they don't have a "bunk room" for people that do a double back. We had one that we could use when we were staying at work for special projects. a lot of the employees would have a light sleeping bag in the trunk of the car.

I have a friend who worked an insane shift like that while on the CP. On his way home to Vista Way he fell asleep at the wheel and went off the road on 535. He was fine, his car....wasn't...joanna71985 wrote:Oh man. The worst shift I ever had was when I got off the first one at 1am, and came back the next morning at 6:30am. The thing is they try to avoid scheduling people like that and discourage people from picking up shifts that will cause double back. If anything a bunk room would encourage it.GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:Too bad they don't have a "bunk room" for people that do a double back. That said, I regularly see people sleeping in the break room. I believe these are people who are working a double and are catching a few winks between the shifts. I wouldn't want to sleep in the break room, to noisy and to many people coming and going all the time.
