Close! It's actually one of the opening shots in IllumiNations (right after the violin section with the fountains only; yes, I own the IllumiNations soundtrack and yes, I'm a dork) :p:

I did see the barge burn-off from afar during EMH one Friday night in early October. I was walking around the lagoon waiting for it, and I was almost ready to ask a CM if they had already done it. On my way over to Test Track, I heard a PFOOM and saw what looked like a mushroom cloud of flame coming from the Lagoon. Marshmallows, anyone? :D:

I wonder if Wonders of Life has a VIP pavilion for the non-existent company that sponsors it...

Gawrsh, yah-huh!

Explain the Star Trek door.

Actually, I would like to see the fire barge burnoff after the show. Anyone know when and where to be to see that?

Oops, my bad. I haven't seen the beginning in a long time. I mostly just hear it from the Land. If you wait about 10-15 minutes after illuminations they will make an announcement about the final goodnight salute or something. If you are anywhere near the lagoon you can't miss it. It lights up the entire area. It's very cool.

At Wonders, in order to get into the VIP lounge you had to obtain a special key card. You would insert the card in a lock and the door would slide open. The whole lounge is themed like a circus tent. I guess it goes with "Fitness Fairgrounds" RIP (Rest in Pieces). The lounge is now used for training occasionally, there are about 4 tables with 4 computers each on them. It brought back a lot of memories. (Including my one and only trip on Body Wars, :sick :)
(PS. Don't worry about being a Disney Music Dork, I listen to Soarin', HISTA, UoE, and GMR music all the time!)

I think it's kinda sad that they have that Wonders of Life pavilion, and do absolutely nothing with it. But then, I guess it's nice to be able to have something to dust off and open in the event of a large crowd.

Well the problem is that WoL is REALLY dated. If you look at the costumes on the Hub they are kinda scary with the whole diagonal button look (UoE pulls it off well). Since WoL has no sponsor Disney doesn't want to foot the entire bill by themselves to update the pavilion. I am actually sort of worried about UoE going that way. But if they updated attractions in order they would update The Land since it was technically the first ride to open at Epcot (it opened three days before the park). But alas no such luck. They better do something with Wonders soon because I get so many people looking for BW who pissed when I tell them it is closed. Also it didn't reopen this season...a bad sign?

Well, that can't be good! Hopefully they will notice that people WANT those type of attractions, not everything HAS to be a thrill ride! DW and I always go there to slow down a bit, plus we like to see all that stuff!

I would agree. But also they have to keep up with the times. The question is how much is too much? I know plenty of people who enjoy slower rides and walking tours, but they are outnumbered by those who prefer their better-known, vomit-inducing, brethren. I personally could ride UoE a million times and not get tired of it. MS? Orange Side? Once was enough! Green? Sure it's fun. Do I miss Horizons? Of course! But MS did breathe some new life into the East Side just as Soarin' did to the Land Building. To be honest before Soarin', I had been to the land once or twice. Now people are drawn to the Land as a plucky side show to Soarin' while they wait for their fastpasses. Beneficial? Yes. Spreading it's original message? Not quite. I am amazed at the number of people who walk out of the Circle Pre-show area when they realize it is "JUST" a movie. It's boring, I hear that, but passing on it because it doesn't flip you 20 times? I don't know. I am a strange breed, someone who appreciates both the past at Disney and looks towards the future positively, even if I have been disappointed recently.

One of the more possible rumors I am hearing out here is that due to the hard time they are having finding any sponsor for WOL, there are now plans being made to demolish the building to make way for something completely new. I don't know how I feel about that idea. I enjoyed CC (get those strollers in line...move it move it move it...where do you think you are, Disney World) and would like to see it return. But if they can't find a sponsor which means the building sits there locked up, I can hope that a new building would give us something to do in that space again. I only hope that the newer management people will look somewhere other than a "spin till you puke" type attraction. It's past time for some new gentle, fun, and thought provoking attractions to return. A thrill ride doesn't take as much thought and planning as nothing can be seen long enough to make fine details needed. Kinda like an attraction version of fast food. Filling but not overly satisfying. A slow detail rich attraction with layers of story can be a 20 course meal that you can enjoy over and over without having the same experience twice.

JMHO

Funny, but DW and I were talking about all the old attractions that we miss! WDW should consider re-creating some of them at Epcot! I bet a LOT of people would like to be shrunk into a snowflake!! And other attractions.....House of the Future?
