I agree, the visual part is a very nice part of the system... extremely nice, even. It's one of those things where, when I say it could be a nice system overall, if they designed it with good show in mind, that I have in mind.

I've always thought there should be a reader board in the passenger compartment that says whatever is on the outside of the bus, so everyone's on the same page.

If they would add some show quality to it, I would never complain.

But now, I don't have a right to complain about it. I don't work there anymore.

IMO that is one of the very few good qualities of MiMs. The captioning and dispatching aspects of the system are good and will hopefully improve Disney Transportation. Essentially (if not outright) banning drivers from spieling and making it impossible to do so by locking out the microphone does nothing but reduce the buses from being an attraction of their own to being just a city bus. Locking out the microphone is also a hazard as it makes it where the driver can't warn the passengers in case of an emergency, as BW, at least I think it was him, talked about the other day. He had to make emergency maneuvers to avoid an accident and couldn't warn his passengers to hang on. He didn't say anybody was hurt in the maneuver but one of his passengers easily could have been.

I think he got those from the roadkill cafe!! (on the back is the yeild ratio and price per pound for a "bus" hit!!)

I agree with you too. I was one of the few that thought, if done right, that this system would be a show enhancer. Alas, I was wrong. The improvements are lacking, the guests hate it, the system works part time and drivers like me and BW get reprimanded for talking to our guests. Not to mention the safety issues. When management took away the override for drivers who actually did the job, they kidded it for those of us who were optimistic for it's success.

Yes, keep the reader board. That part is good guest service. Let the drivers talk, those who are hearing impaired don't get our show but they get information that is helpful to them.

That's the nice thing about the new buses. I can do my thing, and you still get the reader board info. A win/win situation!

Which one? If I remember right, there's 7 different pucks inside the parking lot, and one right near the parking lot on perimeter road

- 1 over near the fuel pump that, in theory, will remind you to turn off your audio system (by making it make a high pitched tone until you turn it off.

- 2 sets (2 pucks each) of Dual-Speed pucks (one for Row 1, one for Rows 2 & 3 ... have to drive over both pucks to get dual-speed)

- 2 sets (1 puck each) of "Magic Bus" pucks. (Tests your audio system ... if you drive over it, it'll play the Who song "Magic Bus")


I also like, if they haven't changed it, the spiel test button on the driver console.

What we have sitting on the tree there is the African yellow-bellied horn-billed sap sucker. It's odd because it has neither a yellow chest, horn bill and oh wait, that's just a branch. Nevermind.
