On another note: I may need to rent the chair this trip at DL :( It will be the first time I ever have needed a chair there. My back is not doing so well this weekend, and I cannot imagine, even 4 hour days walking the Park, let alone the day of our tour which will be a VERY LONG day!!!! In order to beat the gate closing when the Park reaches capacity and it does at Christmas, we will have to be there early and our tour is not until 4PM.

I hope I do NOT sound like an SG here, but, I am wondering if any DL CMs here know if Guest Relations or Front Gate CM's can issue some sort of pass for us to enter the Park later in the day just for our tour, if the gates do close due to capacity. We do NOT have PAPs yet, we bought the Disney travel pkg again, thought we might buy them this trip before we leave. I understand that they continue to allow PAPs to enter UP TO A CERTAIN AMOUNT even if the gates close, because they allow for a certain number of Annual Pass holders, along with regular gate admission tickets. Then, once the Park reaches capacity with every type of ticket, it closes to everyone. Is this correct? I have heard this is how admission works on capacity days. This could be very wrong, but this is how I understood it from a CM once upon a time. (a while ago, when I asked about capacity...)

I am not sure I can make the whole day without lying down for a couple hours. My spine can't take it. I can only go for about 2 hours here and when we came last year, I could double that time at sea level. I think the air pressure at elevation plays havoc with my bad disk and the arthritic joint that needs to be fixed. :( This is not making me smile, though the thought of getting out of here and into Disneyland for a week is :D:
If we have to be there early and stay, so be it, I will rent a chair, no problem and we will make it through the day. If we CAN find some type of pass that will just get us to the tour in the afternoon, after lying down for a couple of hours after spending time with the DisneyMom family in the morning, that would be great!
I am so looking forward to meeting everyone and being in my happy place for a week.. Only 4 more days!!!!! Cannot come soon enough for me!!!!!!!

If you just want a wheel chair, You can get one free at the main desk of your resort.. If you plan on renting a ECV I would go with a off site, They are smaller and easier to use..

Could you go to the first aid facilities and lie down there, without leaving the park? I know from an unfortuniate experience that they have pretty good facilities and I believe have nurse's on duty there. Avoid leaving the park?

This may be heresy but why don't you take a good book with you? Find a shady spot, take a load off and read. You may get some strange looks but who cares!

Actually, back pain is a GOOD reason to rest, I'm sure they could let you, somehow(I wouldn't mind seeing that facility btw)

That might be an idea. Sitting down does not help much. I have to take the weight off my back and my head weighs too much for it to help my back... ;) Actually lying down is mandatory for any relief. Sitting just keeps the pressure on my back! I will check into that! Ralphie could go have *man* fun while I rest! (POTC over and over is *man* fun for Ralphie....)

You know we always carry a good book with us into the Park, always have. Sometimes you just want to sit and read and from time to time and then people watch! Not heresy, not if it is a book about Disney! ;)

I will definitely check that out! Could be a good *backstage tour for you Disneymom, being a nurse. I was at the one in WDW once for an arm sling. I had broken my wrist a few months before and it did not heal right, so I needed a slling to keep it elevated. Nice First Aid at Magic Kingdom at WDW!
All our WDW trip pics show me in my wrist brace! :(

It could be your "Theme" "WDW and DLR in a sling" makes a good book title!

At DL too? I could get a wheelchair at Disneyland Hotel? Or maybe I should just get one off site for the whole week. I don't want to hurt anyone, I have NEVER used an ECV before and I certainly would not want to test my skills at it at Disneyland during Christmas!   MadWoman on a scooter on the loose!!!!! maybe I will rent one here sometime and get used to driving one before my next trip. But that is hopefully not gonna have to happen if my new docs can help me. Oh please be able to help me......
Three steroid shots first, then surgery if they don't work, disk replacement and a scraping out of the SI joint of all the arthritic bone. That is what 2008 holds for Susi....But if it makes me walk again for longer than an hour at atime without lying down, it is worth it. If it does not help, I am strong enought to live with whatever GOD gives me. :)
Disneyland, here we come!!!!!!

I know they will let you go to First Aid and lie down for mild heat stroke, so a more long-term medical condition, I am sure they will let you lie down so you can continue your day there.

In DAKlimation today (orientation at DAK), one thing they mentioned that I thought might be of interest to you, they have seven full-time vets, so I would imagine they have need for vet technicians. I'd love it if you worked over in that department, then I'd have a contact to go shadow for a day! Woohoo!
