The Brunswick Ga. plant is also smellable from I-95 in route to and from Florida. Not a pleasant odor but it does signal the fact that Florida isn't too many miles away. Sort of like having a GPS system.

For years the smell of french bread being baked was a great part of visits to San Francisco. That is until the EPA declared the smell a pollutant and forced the bakeries to install filters. :(

Now 'that' is the STUPIDEST thing I've ever heard. Many moons ago, there was a Holsom bakery a few blocks from where I worked. That was pure bliss when the wind was just right. Of course another place I worked at,was down the street from an incinerator that DPS would use for burning impounded marijuana. :D:

I just returned from a lovely trip to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Let me tell you that deodorant should be featured at Animal Kingdom as an endangered species so maybe more people would pay attention to it.
When DH and I left our room, we used deodorant, scented lotion, and a small bit of body spray. (Love me some Bath and Body Works!) If one failed, the other one would pick up the pieces.
We stood in front of someone in the Norway pavilion that would have felled an elephant with their stink. I almost hurled on his shoes, the scent was so horrid. My hubby got a headache, and had to go to first aid for some aspirin. It was bad.
I feel for the cast members who probably smell that stuff all day long.
I know people can't really smell themselves, but if you notice that people are keeping a 10 mile radius from you and fainting in your presence, go take a shower. If the plants wilt when you get near them, go take a shower. If even the animatronics are holding their noses, go take a shower.

OOOO. The GA Pig is AWSOME!!! You can tell by the smell when you walk through the door. But WAY too many folks judge it by the outside and it does look very like a bayou shack. But I love the way they smash the sandwiches in the press and their sauce is fantastic.

Another Smells Of San Francisco story is about the old US Mint building. When it was active they not only printed money but burned the old bills too. After it was deactivated by Treasury the DEA started using the incenerator to burn seized marijuana. Every time a burn was done the cloud of dope smoke would fill the streets and the locals would stand outside getting a government high.

If we are talking about the scents of our hometowns, I used to live just to the north of Gilroy, CA. If the name is not familiar to you, it is also known as the "Garlic Capitol of the World". Will Rogers once said that it was the only town where you could "marinate a steak just by hanging it out on the clothesline". It is the home of the annual Garlic Festival, and when you are down wind of this town, you are sure to get a craving for some nice Italian cooking!
