And hearing people's unfiltered thoughts can cause problems...A Gillian's Island episode taught that lesson to us. ;)
Think about this though...wouldn't life be so much better if everyone were allowed to just say what they were thinking (no filter) and everyone else would just accept it as their personal opinion and not be offended or hurt. It could work...because everyone would have the same opportunity to vent and say what they feel instead of what they think others want to hear and no one would care. That's my idea of heaven. Political correctness is my idea of hell.

that will never work.

It dosn't take into account human emotion, and the reaction to words or phrases.

to paraphrase a quote: "politness and manners are the grease and lubrication for the imperfect machine that is human interaction"

I have seen people come to physical blows over simple words, and the words were not politically correct ones!

I do agree that the PC has gone a bit too far at times. which is why part of my screen name is what it is, as that is the label I got for not being totally PC when dealing with, umm, "customers" at work.

hehehehhehe

RUM?

Yeah, Those are some good points.

Yes, sometimes things CAN be too PC, and even then, someone will still find something wrong or offensive with it!

Over on the bathing suit season thread, some jerk got snarky on their first post and got his account suspended. Must be a record. Don't know if he was a registered user who lurked, but if he can't keep his attitude to himself, he definately doesn't deserve being on here. I'm on one forum that when you apply to be on it, they actually check your references. And it's not a snob forum at all--they're doing it for their protection. We haven't had any serious problems as a result. Had only one person who kept going around and around in circles on an issue, until we finally got rid of them. Or they stopped posting. It's been a couple years.
