Here's a case in point: I went on a retreat at another university, and we showered at their school's rec center. The girls' locker room had separate stalls for each shower affording everybody privacy. The men's locker room apparently had an open air shower situation so they either had to strip down in front of everybody or just not shower. That just doesn't seem right to me. I like my privacy and would not like being put in a situation like that.
Yep, but then again, blue whale!

I dun remember where it was, but Ive been in a weirder one before. They had one wall of the restroom that was done a little differentially and had water running down it at a constant rate and a little gutter at the bottom. And you just walked right on up and did you duty on the wall. You know how weird it was to pee on the wall as a kid? It was freaking WEIRD.

Sounds like my husband's description of the men's room on the lower level of Ga Tech's Grant field (east side of course). They renovated for the olympics back in '96 so the gutter is gone. Just regular urinals now. So I hear...

Sorry, its the ending of a rather long story that explains why things are the way they are, and the futility of complaining about them. The gist is to just accept things you cannot control, deal with it, and then move on.

The blue whale part comes after probably a ten or fifteen minute talk about various animals on the planet and how they survive and live, and then from what would be about the life of a blue whale, swimming around, making small whales, eating small small food for such a large creature. Then it ends with the retorical question. "And do you know Why?" The answer is, "because thats just the way it is!"

This was told by an instructor to a group that included myself and fellow employees when we started to undergo a rather intense training course. When things got tough, one or more were heard to yell "blue whale" (and a lot of times broke us down to laughing!)

It sums up something that you may not have control over (SG's?) and can not do anything about, other than dealing with them and moving on.

KWIM?

This sounds like a description of one of the public mens rooms at the Madonna Inn near San Luis Obispo, CA.

This was probably the first "themed hotel", as the rooms are decorated with a variety of themes. Most look like a high school shop project with an unlimited budget (and a C grade), but if you like kitch, you'll love this place!

IIRC, the "piss on a waterfall" restroom was at their gas station. When you stepped up, a photocell detected your presence, and a miniature mill atop the wall started turning, the water then cascading down a six-foot tall rock wall into a trough at floor level.

Yeah, I know. It's really hard to believe the descriptions until you've been there. But check out their web site above and look at the guest rooms. It's a hoot.

My aunt and uncle stayed there!

I find it hilarious that boys have group showers when girls have private ones. I've noticed that in most other cases, men are far more homophobic than women [i.e. sleeping in the same bed, etc.]

If anyone's ever ventured to France, in the less-Americanized regions female restrooms are stalls with holes in the floor. I hear other parts of Europe and Asia have this too...
