A lady about 8 months pregnant got on a bus. She noticed the man opposite her was smiling at her. She immediately moved to another seat.
This time the smile turned into a grin, so she moved again. The man seemed more amused. When on the fourth move, the man burst out laughing, she complained to the driver and he had the man arrested.

The case came up in court.

The judge asked the man (about 20 years old) what he had to say for himself.

The man replied, "Well your Honor, it was like this, when the lady got on the bus, I couldn't help but notice her condition. She sat down under a sign that said, 'The Double Mint Twins are coming' and I grinned. Then she moved and sat under a sign that said, ' Logan 's Liniment will reduce the swelling,' and I had to smile. Then she placed herself under a deodorant sign that said, "William's Big Stick Did the Trick," and I could hardly contain myself. But, Your Honor, when She moved the fourth time and sat under a sign that said, 'Goodyear Rubber could have prevented this Accident'... I just lost it."

If you want a real sad story then I will tell you that Kristen was a happy young lady who came home sick with encephalitis. It has been a month or more and the doctors said it is hopeless but there are small signs of improvement, Pray for her. Yep she is real and she is much loved by many people unlike them fake emails you get.

I always get EVERY stupid one of these stories WITHOUT the links to snopes so I have to go dig for it myself. The one about the rats, my Uncle Bob from Florida sent me, so I had to check it out. He is the source of most of my collection of dubious emails. Thanks, Uncle Bob!

There's one in every family. My dad suffered from the "Hmm this is interesting so I'll pass it along to everyone in creation and their dog without once pausing to think about whether it might be fake, old, or completely worthless" syndrome, but I've mostly cured him with repeated doses of Snopes. He still has relapses from time to time, though.

This summer I made a friend in Canada at the international Barbershop convention in Denver who, sad to say, has the same problem, so here we go again, but it may be worse with him, unfortunately. He sent me something recently about email petitions against drunk driving. I replied with the Snopes article saying that the petitions are not helping, and in fact are not wanted because dealing with them is draining resources, but this guy responded back that it was still a good idea to keep sending this around.

Yes and those petitions sometimes are connected to people who will use the petition or chain email as a spam list! I delete every one of em. I hate those things. The only ones I like are the Snowball fight that comes every year at this time to pass on and if a good one about friendship or something sappy comes, I send it to select friends and family, not everyone and their dog! :D: I get so much of this stuff, some of it is actually quite funny and I will print out a good joke for my file and pass that along. Ahhhhh... the bane of the internet, email petitions and chain emails...

As soon as I spot a phrase like "forward this to # friends" or "if you love someone, you'll send them this" in an email, my mouse pointer oddly jumps to the delete button and my finger starts uncontrollable clicking. It's an amazing thing to see.
