I see packs of them every time I go into Lahaina. The best ones are the couples that dress in the same pattern aloha shirts and dresses from Hilo Hatties. The colors burn my retinas. Arrrggghhhhhhh!!!

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

The bugs are here!
Needed a trip to FIW to add more washer fluid to the bus today to try to wash off the carcuses.
Now, can anyone tell me why FIW won't fill the washer fluid when they service the bus for the night?

Because if they fill it up you will just go and waste it all.
If they leave it empty you will be forced to get by with the few spits they left you, or use the less expensive water (bottled of course) that really does no good. On the other hand if you are unable to see out and run the bus into a canal the long soak until it can be towed out may loosen the bugs enough that a quick rinse to remove the mud would mostly take the bugs off too. So remember, when the lovebugs have fully smeared your bus, a not-so-quick dip in a nearby canal could be the solution. When the bus maint super asks about the "dip" you can explain that you are simply following apparent proper procedure as this is the most useable alternative to using all that expensive washer fluid (you know how hard it is to squeeze fluid from a metal washer). :D:

Find a canal that's had some industrial waste dumped in it. That'll speed up the bug removal process but may be kinda hard on the paint.

That picture makes me think of Family Auto Mart for some reason. Luckily I have not seen them in a long time.

This is waaaay OT, but hobie, just out of curiosity, how do you recommend a tourist to Hawaii act -- beyond common courtesy, common sense, and all those other rare commodities? I mean, if I visit Hawaii there's no way I could ever look or talk like an islander -- more like sunburned ice cream guy from Lilo & Stitch -- so I know I'd be pegged as a tourist. What's the best way to be a
non-annoying tourist?
