But did you notice that forced perspective works both ways. Most of WDW uses it to make buildings seem taller than they are, but the American Adv uses it backwards to make the building seem shorter and more massive so that from the view across the lake it looks right.

As for character dining, if you can't make it to the breakfast, the character dinner at the DL Hotel is a lot of fun. My friends and I went a few Christmases ago and had a blast. Goofy was very artistic. He drew pictures on all the (paper)tablecloths. One of my friends liked it so much he took the drawing home.

I wholeheartedly agree! We have had dinner there as well and it is fun and delicious! All the characters will sign your paper table cover as well as draw pics if you don't have an autograph book. I had them sign my Birnbaum"s Disneyland 2007 travel book. It is a great way to keep the autographs and still have your travel guide in your library! Next trip I am taking X-Large tee-shirts and Sharpies in many colors to have the characters sign the shirt and it won't wash out because Sharpies are permanent ink!!!! Fun to wear a shirt with all the sigs of the characters! You could even add the trip info on it so you remember what trip it was that you got the autographs. I love doing stuff like that! I really love posing with characters and having them sign my book, so the tee shirt will be a new fun keepsake! I am such a kid!!!!!! :p:
Susi*loves the characters*slicker

I PROMISE MORE PICS AND STORY COMING TODAY! My eyes got tired yesterday looking at the computer screen.

First Full day at the resort: Dec 21st (this is gonna be a looooooooong report with LOTS of pictures! There are so many cool pics coming up! :D: )

Okay, we are still on the Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour...On the way over to the Matterhorn we stopped at the Wishing Well and Snow White's Grotto. Michael told us some very cool things about this area!

Image

Michael explained that they used Forced Perspective here as well. When they got the statuary, they found that the Dwarves were the same size as Snow White! What to do? They put Snow White at the top of the Falls and all the dwarves down around the bottom areas to make it *look* like she was bigger!

With a last look at the castle, (Yes, that is the Disney family crest above the arch when you enter the Castle from the Hub), we were off to the Matterhorn! :D:

Soon we were standing in the shadow of the Mighty Matterhorn. Have you ever wondered why the Matterhorn is placed between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland? Well, I always thought that the theming of the Matterhorn was more to an Adventureland attraction, but it does fit nicely with the Fairytale feel of Fantasyland. The Matterhorn was placed where it was because of some very tall poles and other construction items that needed to be hidden! It was the only place he could put it! Also, it used to have a star on top of it, that was lit all the time. Disney was ahead of its time in that the star was a symbol for something that we use all the time now. Energy Star! :) And more recently Disneyland is starting to change out all the Christmas lights to LED, rather than incandescent, so they really save energy that way too!

I saw one suggestion along the lines of your Tee idea. Instead of wearing the tee carry it folded and pinned around a stiff piece of cardboard or artist board (the foam core stuff). This way the character has a solid surface to write on, and if the marker bleeds through you don't end up with "tatoos" on your back.

Can't wait for more Susi! I'm really enjoying the tour experience you are sharing. The Snow White Wishing Well is a favorite for my Husband and me, I think you may have noticed some of the pictures we sent you were taken there. :)

If I remember the rules correctly, the characters can't sign clothing that is on your person. So, susi, you'd either have to take off that t-shirt and hand it over for autographs :D: , or use Randy's suggestion of folding it around a piece of cardboard.
