We just got the DDE card. We give the discounted amount back as our tip, since that would be 20%. Usually give it as cash.
My husband is stuck in the 15% mode anywhere else, unless service is better than what he thinks is average. At buffets outside of WDW he tips $1 per person. Is this right for a Ponderosa, Sweet Tomato, or Golden Corrale?
So when we ate at Golden Corale for Thanksgiving I slipped the server a $20 when dh wasn't looking. It was only the 3 of us eating off the buffet.

At a Pondo, Sizzler, or Golden Corral, I usually tip 10 to 15%, depending on whether the service is "standard" or better. At times I've given 20% (or a little more) because even tho' I was at a buffet, I felt that the service was equivalent to what I would get at a regular sit-down restaurant. We had one waitress at a Pondo on 192 who was fantastic! She got a very large tip from us and deserved every penny.

So yesterday I went to a Black Angus for dinner.
As we are sitting at the table waiting for our food my foot hits something under the table.

Huh? What is that?
I reach down to find a glass. I lift the glass thinking it dropped down there and discover that is 1/2 full with an unidentifiable liquid.

This liquid highly resembles vomit. I bring it to the waitresses attention and she lifts up the glass and places it on her tray in full view of us so we may bask in its glory. After she leaves I notice a familiar, yucky, stomach turning smell. Whether it is the ethnic sent of the people who sat down next to us, or the surprise code V under the table, I wasn't sure.
I waitress then offers to move us to an adjacent table, warning us not to exit in that particular direction. There was more hidden under the table.
However, at the caddy-corner table, we could still spot the gift lurking under the booth.
In the end, we were moved to an entirely different section of the restaraunt and given a fat 50% discount.
What kills me is that people have the audasity to vomit into a container, and hide it! What if a toddler was in our group and went under the table to play and came across that. I know restaraunts don't always have the time to check under booths for presents, but maybe the should. How unsanitary. I think i was mostly pissed at the previous party for not having the courage to turn the cup in or alert management.
At USH, I didn't mind cleaning up code v. As long as it was on the floor and ws brought to my attention. Not discovered when I step into it in a dark preshow. That reminds me of this time were our lovely manager wouldn't let us throw away a vomit strewn bucket from the ball play land. He said that we were short on buckets and couldn't afford to throw any away. He made some poor soul wash it out in the sink.

I was once eatting at a Dennys.
I ordered a club sandwich with fries, extra mayo.
so, I get my food, and I pick up a section and start to eat it,
about half way thru the first quarter, I reach down and grab a french fry,
and I am looking down at my plate contemplating a pickle, and I notice,
out of one of the other sandwich quarters, a ladybug comes walking out,
like it is going for a walk in the garden. so I say really loud, there is Live things in my food. some people start to look at me, a waitress comes over to look, this scares the ladybug who runs back into the sandwich. so, I said, it ran into that piece and pointed to where said bug ran into. they take the plate and ask me if I would like another. I say no thank you, I much prefer my food dead. so the waitress says, the manager said no charge for my lunch. and I hear a comment from a guest seated behind me say,
at least it was fresh...

From The Simpsons episode: "Lisa The Skeptic" (The one where they find what appears to be an angel..)
(Marge is getting Bart dressed up for the apocalypse)
Bart: "Mom, why are we getting dressed up? Are we going to Black Angus?"
Marge: "Well...I guess you could say that we're going to the best steakhouse in the universe."
Bart: "So...we're NOT going to the Black Angus."

This thread has remained on-topic too long. It is time for it to go at least partially off-topic
It is a stock post I use when there is discussion (on another board) about the Harmony Barber Shop:
One important thing to remember at the MK Barber Shop. When they removed the old antique cash register and put in a terminal to allow use of credit cards and hotel charges and the like they hooked into The Emporium's network. The register, unlike ones in table service restaurants, cannot handle tips as part of the transaction.
So if you are planning on using the Harmony Barber Shop please be aware that if you are using any sort of card you cannot add a tip on the card and should have cash available for tipping.
