Official SGT ADD thread

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

When I teach a graduate class, some of my quizzes will all have the same answer choice. I use it to see if they are answereing the questions and not looking for a pattern. I also ask question structured like you described. As one set of facts will be a true statement, Unless more facts nullify it. Not trying to trick them, but get them to read the question and think about it.
However, My questions are a little more tenical and complicated.

Re: Official SGT ADD thread
Just had this sent my way, thought you would all appreciate it.
_______________
It was last Wednesday night, and I was sitting in my room watching
television when the phone rang.
"Hello?"
A girl's voice came over the line. "Can I speak to Ben, please?"
I live by myself, and my name definitely is not Ben. It was probably a
wrong number ~ but I was bored.
"I'm sorry, he's not in right now. Can I take a message?"
"Do you know what time he'll be back?" she responded.
"I think he said he'd be home around 10:00."
Silence on the other end... a confused silence.
"Is this Steve?"
My name isn't Steve, either. This was definitely a wrong number.
"Yes, it is. Do you want to leave a message for Ben?"
"Well... he said he would be home tonight and asked me to
call him..." she said in a slightly irritated voice.
I replied, "Well, he went out with Karen about an hour ago,
and said that he would be back at 10:00."
A shocked voice now: "Who's Karen?!"
"The girl he went out with."
"I know that! I mean... who is she?"
"I don't know her last name. Look, do you want me to leave a message
for Ben?"
"Yes... please do. Tell him to call me when he gets home."
She was sounding pretty irate at this point, and I could hear her
temper flaring. "I sure will. Is this Jennifer?"
She exploded this time. "Who's Jennifer?"
Apparently she wasn't.
"Well... he's going out with Jennifer at 10:00. I thought you were
her. Sorry... it was an honest mistake."
"Ben's the one that's made the mistake! Tell him that Alice called him
and the she's very upset and that I would like him to call me as soon
as he gets home."
I smiled and said, "Okay, I will... but Becky isn't going to like
this..."

Re: Official SGT ADD thread
usual bruise, pain and back problems because mom will not sell the damned house. We sell so we can afford a van with a lift. NO way the selfish old lady.
Doctore says she is ok. Cholestorol test done. Lots of waiting. One SG doctor double booked and took the new patient instead of the quick easy patient. That was not her doctor but can you imagine waiting with a kid for an hour.
Car overheated and I was just able to get to Rosewood Restaurant. Marco put water in the car, probably was that. I had pozole with cabbage and onions, also tostada salad and iced tea. Mom had half a ham sandwich, chicken noodle soup, and fries with coffee. I took home pozole ofr a late nite snack and she demanded I make her a peanut butter on toast sandwich.
If we moved to Florida or Georgia then we would have a lift van, power chair, ECV, state of the art kitchen, computers, media, as well as house keepers. She would have her lounge chair she wants and I would have better heath. Selfish old lady does not see me in pain from lift that chair or pushing her around.
i am depressed and need food, someone give me chocolate ice cream.

I have this on a tee shirt! I really am afraid of clowns! There is a whole clown phobia web site!vixen101485 wrote:cant sleep the clowns will eat me, cant sleep the clowns will eat me, cant sleep the clowns will eat me.
Okay, so I made a teensy mistake in my last post! Tawny is NOT 25 yrs old. If she was, then kidney problems would be the least of her worries...She is 15 yrs old. This is why I am more freaked. She can have quite a few more yrs. One tiny little typo and I age my cat by 10 yrs, she ain't gonna like that. Just don't tell her, okay?
They took blood and are going to do a urinalysis and we will have results today or tomorow. They did an ultrasound while she was there and she has no stones. The doc said it was possible that she could have had some, but passed them, probably when I picked her up. She was crying when we would pick her up the last couple days. I have kidney stones from time to time (thanks, Dad!) and they are the worst pain on earth. Women who have given birth naturally and have had stones, say they would rather go through natural childbirth again rather than trying to pass a kidney stone. They are horrendous. You WILL pass out from the pain, I guarantee it. I have them 3 times now. NOT fun!
Sooooooo...the upshot is that we know nothing yet about her kidney values and we will know soon. They also checked for lumps and bumps with the ultrasound, and thank GOD they found none. I will just fall apart if I lose her after losing our baby Orion. She has been my best friend and confidant for so long and I do not remember what life was like without her.
If she does have early kidney disease, it can be managed with fluid infusions, which I can do here, but that only goes for so long, before that does not even help. I am praying the kidney values are low. I want to talk to the vet about putting all our cats on a kidney food diet. They won't like it, but it really does help with the kidneys. Kidney disease is VERY common in older cats. Probably from all the crap in the food they make for animals. They are getting better, but still have a long way to go to get animal chow on a healthy basis across the board. They make special formulations for what they call *kidney cats*, those with early signs and full blown kidney disease.
So I will let you all know what is up when we get the results. She is feeling just fine now. I give her a pill every morning and night for hyperthyroid (VERY common in older female cats) and she gets pain meds for her sore joints. probably a little arthritis setting in. She sometimes is stiff in the morning (DO NOT go there, boys... :hysteria: )
Thank you all again for being here. You are all my friends. I don't really have too many friends here in Colorado, don't get out much due to back problems. I went to a Pet Grief website after Orion passed and posted there and it was good to do, but I can't go there very often. It is too sad. Every thread is another very sad story from someone who lost their furry friend. I cry when I go there and read the threads. It is a very beautiful site that has many wonderful people, just too depressing for me to go all the time anymore.
When the results are in, you all will be the first to know, after Tawny of course.
I LOVE you all!
susi
p.s. I know those songs :D: , Fish heads and Dead Puppies. I have several Dr. Demento Greatest Hits CDs. He finds the best and weirdest! Still afraid Vixen?

Churchy, I would mail you some chocolate ice cream, but I don't think it will make it! Be happy my friend, you are here with us!!!! That in itself is a blessing, eh?

I'm going to be away from the board for a few days. I'm taking my computer into the shop to get some much needed work done on it. Hopefully it won't take to long. See you when I get my computer back.
Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

Hope all goes well Susi! My mom's dog has to have a special diet to avoid uric acid crystals from developing. Then I met a patient(human) who had to be on a special diet to avoid the same. When I told him about my Mom's dog, he laughed and said, "So I could have just gone to a vet!"
