Or you could have an *episode* like we had this morning at our house. My 15 yr old kitty named tawny, the love of my life, has some problems with her bladder, I think she has a bladder infection. Anyway, we were getting her ready to go to the vet this morning and I went after her, she ran up the stairs and I ran up after her...BIG MISTAKE! I should not have taken the stairs as my back is in really bad shape right now AND feeling the oncoming snowstorm and I can hardly get up out of bed, let alone go up stairs to catch the damn cat. I should have used the elevator (yes, we do have one, we have a three story house:eek :) , but had I used the lift, she would have run back down before I got up there. It is one of those slow lifts. Anyway, we finally nail her, by trapping her between the two of us and I get her over to the carrier and I feel something wet and warm running down my arm, onto my clothes and legs and feet, (I was wearing shorts and no shoes and socks) and the damn cat had peed all over me! Now I know she has a bladder problem, but she did not have to pee on mommy. I had managed to move her over to the carrier where she finished emptying her bladder and we had to clean that and the floor and me up and finally got Ralph and her on their way to the Vet. I immediately ran to our shower and turned it on full force and washed the peepee off of me. Oh, the joys of having an older cat.
:( Now I am actually a little trepidatious and VERY worried because as you all know we just lost our beautiful *son*, kittyboy Orion a month ago and I do NOT want to hear the words kidney disease or tumor of the urinary tract or anything other than bladder infection. I am now worried sick that she
is sick, because this is the third episode of this in 2 months, Not peeing on me, but bladder issues and straining to pee... :( So I am praying that she is not really sick with Kidney disease or renal failure. They lose the ability to hold their pee with renal failure and she has NEVER done that to me before, peed on me, NEVER...
I am just waiting to hear what the Vet has to say and holding my breath. We have the best Vet in the country in my opinion, Dr Santen from the TV show on Animal Planet "Emergency Vets". This is her third trip to se him for this same problem. I hope they are going to do blood work to check her kidney and liver values to make sure they are functioning up to full speed. We will know from those tests if it is Renal failure or kidney disease. And I cannot begin to tell you what I will be like if they come back positive for those things...I cannot even go there.
You all know how devastated Ralph and I are over the loss of our beautiful boy. We are still reeling from that and having a very hard time getting through the grief. So NO serious problems allowed for Tawny. If I lose this cat, I don't know what I would do. She has been my life for 25 years, long before I met Ralph, she was with me. She is my best friend and knows me better than anyone. If you have ever loved a creature so purely and unconditionally, you know what I mean. That is the love I share with Tawny.
I will post you all when I know what is up. I have not heard from Ralph yet. They have been gone a couple hours. Maybe it is just an infection or something like that. I pray....
