And when I trip up and say "I'm sorry sir/ma'am, you can't use outside containers at the Beverage Island", I get this smarmy, smug look in return "but it's refillable forever and ever". Uggggggggghhhhh.
I'm just glad I haven't seen anybody do what my friend's mom does - buy one refillable mug and bring styrofoam disposable cups. Fill the mug, pour it into a cup, rinse and repeat for the entire family. I think I'd lose so much faith in humanity.
Sorry to hear about how the old school fat mugs are wreaking havoc for you.
I still see the first series of them once in a while when i am staying at ASMusic , and they always ALWAYS belong to senior citizens! They have the original Resort Logos for the hotels ( trophey, clef note, etc.).I have the cooler design that came later, with Mick playing some mean guitar (ASMusic) and the Disney Gang making a film together ASMovies).
Part of the reason i like my fat mugs so much is the art designs. They look great and add to the appeal. I like them much better then what has been offered over the past few years. The last couple of designs have been a bit lame. I use my mugs almost daily here at home and at work. My corner store will even fill it with coffee for me !
Oh...and your story about seeing people use a Resort Mug to fill several ( sometimes multiples) of un-Disney paper cups...yeah, I have seen this happen too. I can see someone wanting to split a drink with a friend, but come on, 8 different people? Yeah...i little extreme.

I actually got a group of like 9 of the fat mugs today... It was too slow to even bother with it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't that be exactly when it should be bothered with? Just asking!

Yeah, but everybody was saving their energy for the spike in occupancy. Yesterday was less than 40%, but today is 84% and tomorrow is like 95%. Besides, they were filling up with water, except for the two that got NesCrape.

Why the big jump in occupancy? Is it just the weekend or is something else going on? I thought the few weeks before schools let out was a pretty nice time.

I've sold my share of mugs on eBay, but I made sure to mention that the official rule was that mugs were to be used for the current trip only, and that refilling them would be at the buyer's discretion.
I personally will reuse the mugs, but I will always do two things:
1. Buy a new mug for every trip.
2. Be willing to stop using the mugs if told by a CM not to.

Which definitely shows that you're not a Stupid Guest.
Anyway, welcome to SGT, mattdbower. The Marsupials should be along shortly, as should the beverage committee, and our resident dragon. I'll be back with a fire extinguisher after the latter.

Beware, a dragon approaches, to give you the most fiery safety spiel you've ever heard. Here's an umbrella made from those fire blankets that fire fighters use in forest fires. Let me know how it works.
If the drink team arrives before the dragon, I don't suggest drinking any alcohol.

Greetings mattdbower, I am the resident dragon and would like to offer you a very warm* welcome to that slice of the internet we call SGT. This website contains threads with quick twists and turns and I would like to advise you to not try too hard to keep up with them. Please keep your hands, arms, and legs safely inside the website at all times and enjoy your stay.
*this instance of warm is actually hot**... very hot
**this instance of hot means that you are now literally on fire, I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for any inconvenience
