Those guards can't really help that much. The impulse delivered to the victim is going to be close to just being hit by the front of the bus without the after effect of getting actually ran over.

That device works great on the RTS, but the Gillig is a low floor bus, and the way Disney has them configured with the lift in the back door, I don't think you could actually get the equipment in there.

On a different note, you could not pay me enough to be that bus driver or stunt man.

At the speed the bus should be going the kid may have lived it he hit the front of the bus and bounced off to the side. However there is no way of telling if anything would have helped.

I like that the stunt man wore pads. As if it would help if the stunt went bad.

I see it like how in some movies there is this trucker nicknamed "Tiny" and when he steps out of his truck he is actually this huge dude.
It's not just in the movies. On my first tour, our lead driver went by "Tiny".
He was anything but ! He was a good 6'4" and at least 400lbs.

On the next tour one of our roadies was Moose. He is 4'11" and not terribly heavy. We renamed him Chick Magnet, because ....We took our show into Chicago, and one of our local guys is.... Moose. Chicago Moose was about 90lbs soaking wet ! Roadies get all the best nicknames!
