Where is that plane picture taken from?
I can see a few things go through my mind:
"Candy Gram."
"UPS"
If they could fly a plane right near my upstairs neighbor's condo, I am sure the elephant's would have a heart attack! :D:

Re: Thanksgiving War Stories
The photo was taken in Detroit, and the plane is farther from the building than it appears because of the use of a telephoto lens.turkeyham wrote:Where is that plane picture taken from?

I still enjoy the pictures. The closest I have been to a loud military jet when the El Toro base was still open.
I went to Oceanside on Amtrack and the train went pass the base. Apparently there is 2 runways still intact. There are a few buildings still being used by the military. There are allot of trailors too. I can tell you, they did not turn it into a housing place or a park.

Re: Thanksgiving War Stories
as I said before, I live north of what is now MCAS Miramar. when it used to be NAS Mirmar (topgun) as I would be driving past the base on I-15 going home at night, you would see the tomcats coming back from a days worth of play.
you could always tell the tourists or newbys driving because they would either suddenly slow down or pull over to the side when they were on approach. (the final landing path is over I-15) and they planes looked big, but they were still probably at 300 or 400 agl.
it always caused a headache for the CHP when they were having an air show.

That's where we were. We were on the 15 heading to the airport. I like the planes and yes, traffic was doing the looky-lew and causing traffic to seriously come to a stop.
It was like driving down Katella this evening around 8 pm and a sheriff had pulled someone over. 2 drivers almost crashed into the cruiser. Ok, if there are flashing red and blue lights in front of you, yes, get out of that lane.
In Oregon, we were driving down on I-5 heading to Corvallis. If there is a car crash or if someone is pulled over by the police, you can not slow down to check out the police action. I heard if caught doing this, the fine is $500.
2 lane high ways, not a good way to tie up the freeways.
