Great, now I'm worried that I have that same dopey smile on my face when I stand up.

No more than the rest of me does. :p:

Pretty unlikely. That condition is pretty specific to astronauts.

Woo! Glad you're getting better! Does this mean you have to get your butt off the couch/out of the chair and get things your own darn self now?
I almost called you, the family and I were at the Disney store at Grapevine Mills and they had Perry the platypus plush toys! I was disappointed it wasn't a platypus made out of wood though...
Oh, they also had P&F as well. They all "talk", but Perry does his cool growl thing.

Cool!!! My youngest has just now added something to his Christmas wish list.
I'm just hoping that they'll carry the wooden Perry's trendy replacement -- Brick. ("It's fun!")

Well, I've said goodbye to the Zazu Boot (tm). My physical therapist and I agree that I walk better without it. Other than that, my progress is just being measured in small incremental gains in endurance, both in walking and standing (both still with crutches). No rugby matches for me yet, I'm afraid.

Okay, this may be the final update on this thread, barring anything unexpected happening.
I have been released by my surgeon! Yay! And while I'm far from back to normal (or whatever passes for normal for me), things are going as well as they could! I've been cleared to switch from using two crutches to one, and then none, as able. :crutch: I still need them for long distances or on days my ankle is particularly stiff, but around the house I can hobble around without them. (In fact, it's 2:30 p.m. as I write this, and I haven't even
touched my crutches yet today! :D :)
I've still got a ways to go, particularly since with VM I have to be able to stand for 3-4 hours at a time, and I'm barely back up to 30 minutes, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm back at rehearsals, but sitting most of the time. Hopefully I'll be back on the risers soon, especially as we gear up for contest.
I really appreciate all of your messages of encouragement over these past four months. Your prayers and good thoughts must have worked, because I was blessed never to have fallen once during my recovery! Thanks, all of you.
