What is wrong with Home Depot? I prefer them over Lowes, where they don't staff enough people and the ones they do staff are idiots. I've always heard that Home Depot pays pretty well and takes care of their employees. The people I know that have worked there really liked it.Planner wrote:As a land use professional I can tell you I have zero respect for Wal-hell or Home-cespot. Home Depot hires people who know the product, like former plumbers in the plumbing dept. Lowe's hires teenagers who don't know jack about the products.

I have used both places for "light" rennovations of my house, and both places gave me good service. Lowes did seem to do more follow-ups with the products and asked about the installers that they used!Ms. Matterhorn wrote:Home Depot hires people who know the product, like former plumbers in the plumbing dept. GuestJockey wrote:We run into this ALL THE TIME in City Hall. The CM at the attraction says no to something like line-cutting, they come to City Hall to complain about the CM and ask for comps because their "day is ruined", and we say no. They want our leads. Our leads say no. They want our managers. Our managers hand them comps faster than we can say "stupid guest". This happens in every position in every job in every nation - I've been on tours where I was cursed out and physically abused leading to my ending the tour, then they scream to management so loud that not only does the management apologize to THEM, but they then sent me BACK out on tour with the same guests! It's a cultural thing that we've taught them - if you yell loud enough, people will give you whatever you want to get you to shut up.
On the topic of rich = rude; I had a guest about a month ago try to shoplift a necklace out of Pieces of Eight because he didn't want to break his $100 bill. I've also found it hilarious that I've bonded with a lot of the Blue Bayou hosts and hostesses over our mutual experiences with rich, entitled jerks.
Yep, I said it before and I'll say it again. This is exactly why SGs stay SGs and create more. Managers fold like a cheap umbrella and the SGs tell their SG friends and they come and expect to get away with shit too. Then the poor hapless CM gets **the look** from the SG and it ruins morale. When the managers all grow a spine or some cojones and say NO, they might make a dent in the SG poulation. Gonna happen? Not in my lifetime. :(Terrytunes wrote:That drives me mad!!!! We end up looking stupid, the SG walks away with a smug smile on their face. Why do we even bother saying no in the first place?

Love it. They need to start doing something. The word is out that Disney is a soft touch when all you have to do is bitch about something, does not matter what, as long as you bitch they will give you something free. It is the fault of the weak, spineless managers who can't or just will NOT say no. :mad:turkeyham wrote:One of my friends is a AP. She buys the most expensive passes for her and her family. I would think that at SOME point, a second level manager would start noticing that the bottom line is starting to get affected by all these "comps" and they they might need to not be so accomadating to silly complaints!

I know or have known plenty of rich people that are nice. Rich is not equal to Rude, because I know people from all over the income spectrum that are rude.Princess Susi wrote:Oh, not ALL rich people are rude... :)

So true. But the people who are rich in their heart as well as their walet treat everyone with respect and unless you know their financial status you would never notice them from the general population.
Actually I suspect that the "rich=rude" folks are more likely to be wannabe rich and thus will take any opportunity to "impress" those around them by loudly stating their (alleged) financial status.
Personally I am more impressed by the former than the later.

Very true. Very true. It's the ones that you would never know, but you find out when they do something (very obviously not to show off) that helps someone around them and use their resources. I've seen it happen many a time.Randy B wrote:Personally I am more impressed by the former than the latter.
Then there's this one guy, hired the company of which my father is the president for some of his business affairs. He'll call my dad and ask him to have $X million transferred between a couple accounts just to remind my dad he has money. No need to do so, my dad sees his bank records all the time. But he feels the need to do it to feel superior.
I'm trying to think of a word I can call him that doesn't include obscenities. Nope, can't think of one. So I'll take guesses as to what I am thinking of that I want to call him.

Re: I am rich, so therefore I am RUDE!!!!!
:) Sorry to interrupt, but I just have to vent about this one guest who came into the restaurant today.
She walks up to the Pasta counter, orders one of everything, comes over to me at Kids' Meals, interuppts the guest who I'm already helping, demands a Kids Spaghetti, and while I'm preparing it, complains that if she doesn't get it in 5 seconds, she's going to need to have all her other dishes thrown out and replaced.
I finally give her her food, and she goes storming off mumbling "I pay too much for this c***. I shouldn't have to wait..." (not exactly those words, but really close).
And she apparently waved her Black AmEx Card (that really exclusive one that only the really wealthy get) at the cashier and demanded of all things, a discount!
UGH!

Sorry to interrupt, but those kinds of people just really get me peeved.

Re: I am rich, so therefore I am RUDE!!!!!
I would have told her. You are paying the same as this nice person here, and those people waiting in line. So if by paying the price on the menu entitles you to go to the front of the line, so do all these others who are nicely waiting their turn. If you don't like the price, you don't have to order or pay for this food.glendalais wrote: I finally give her her food, and she goes storming off mumbling "I pay too much for this c***. Then I would have pointedly turned my back on the trouble maker and with a smile thank the patient person who was interrupted, with " I'm sorry for the delay. Some people just don't know how to play well with others". If possible I would have also looked up at the others waiting and included them in your apology and smile.
