That's the only reason we left Hawaii. We wanted to have horses but couldn't afford acreage there or a place to put them. We did board a horse at the stables at Wheeler AFB for awhile (ex-hubby was Army pilot) but there's no way we could afford to pay boarding fees in the private sector.

With the high cost of milk, and that was back in the 70s, we used powdered milk and made up a gallon at a time. That was nasty stuff but it was a heck of a lot cheaper than real milk.

The short story is after kicking around Silicon Valley for years I finally got into a company that was on the cusp of exploding. We were an arms dealer to all the .com companies but were able to move up into the Fortune 500 sector with just a few enhancements. At one point my options were up 2500 percent. I didn't exercise at that level but I did okay. I went conservative and avoided AMT, margin accounts, all the crap that got a lot of people in trouble.

We live comfortably, the newest car is seven years old and I've still got one kid to put through college. I guess if we'd moved to Nevada I could have a palatial estate with hot and cold running maids but we enjoy the weather, beach and the friends we've made. I can sail pretty much year 'round and bike my my ass off. That's how I keep my weight down.

Oh yeah, new pooch!

Primo? Woweee? How could you hang those kinda names on a cute little pooch? My daughter named her Scooter. She's an eight pound tough guy who's already put the Catahoula Leopard Dog in her place. Should have named her Bronson.

Nope. Her AKC name is Front Street Party Girl. Her breeder called her Streeter. That doesn't roll off the tongue easily so Scooter it is.
