I saw this when I was at the Radisson, too. People had certificates for continental breakfast, which was served, but there was absolutely no tip involved.

When I would hand those out to people who got them with their rooms, I would always make it a point to point out that gratuity was not included... I had a couple waiters and waitress who saw me do that and would either kick me a couple bucks here and there or get me food and drinks (drinks on nights off) on their dime.

Aloha Stephanie! See these are the stories I knew were out there LOL.

Thanks and keep em coming. I figured if nothing else this thread could be free therapy for the folks who are servers at WDW. . .

Ive never been a server at WDW, I was one at chilis and at olive garden for years though. And while I have plenty of stories from that perspective, as a guest only one story sticks out in my mind from WDW.

One monday afternoon last early november, my friend who also is an AP holder, called and wanted to know if I wanted to do dinner at the world on saturday. I said sure, and told her to call and get a ressie somewhere we'd never been. So she calls me back to tell me she asked randomly and was able to book us late at Cinderellas Royal Table! Great!

So we get there and things are magical and amazing like they should be. Im enjoying the atmosphere, the tasty pretzyl bread and awaiting my BLT salad. Well the server brings the salad, sets it down and also is setting down a new lemonade. Well some force of gravity between her and the landing spot on the table, foriced the drink to fall into my lap. I was not wearing my normal attire of Dolce and Gabbana pants, and belt with a Dior scarf top ( ;) ) and was wearing 'theme park clothes' consisting of a pair of capris and an I <3 Jack Sparrow shirt.

I was laughing, the server was red-faced and apologizing profusely and out of NO WHERE were coming men with towels, a new BLT Salad (mine had lemonade in it) and a manager asking me if I was ok, and handing me a gift certif (not a GC, its that yellow paper Guest services hands out when something goes wrong, with pinnochio on it) for a $25 t-shirt. Asking if they could do anything else. All within a minute of the spill.

K. first of all, Ive NEVER had that kind of attentiveness, from a boyfriend, much less at a restaurant. 2nd of all the t-shirt comp wasnt necessary. My pants had gotten wet, but it was lemonade, and would dry. I tried to explain to the manager, but she insisted and just kept apologizing.

I was impressed, and wrote in a letter commending them after we got back.
And when people complain about X at Disney I tell them that story and ask them to name a restaurant (like chilis or Olive garden) that would do something like that. There isnt anything comparable imo. And thats why I pay $40 to dine at Cindys castle whenever I can afford to, and can get a reservation.

:)

Been to Disney 200+ times.

Next trip: Oct. 12 for MNSSHP.

You see? You see? *This* is why we decided to live eight miles due east of Spaceship Earth when I retired (the first time).

That and some really great food from the same places.

Good list, Stephanie! :P Side note, O'hana's is my personal favorite in WDW. See ya when we start using our holiday coupons.

My favorite from when I was working Pinocchio's Villaige Haus was when I had a Sg bring back a boat with maybe a bite of cheese burger left, 4 fries and a pink, glow in the dark cockroach underneith the last of the fries. Now it was late and the closing crew were all buddies. Heck, I car pooled with 4 of 'em so I KNOW none of us did it. My manager replaced his food rather than his money and confiscated the plastic bug.

I had a buddy working the Prime Rib station in King Stephan's when a manager came back, insensed and yelling about how a moth made it's way out with their food. Now, my buddy had studdied emptimology(sp) i.e buggies for several years in uni. He looked at the moth and TOLD the manager that the SG had a french Canadian accent without meeting them. He gave the genus and species of the moth, that can not survive in Florida's heat. The ONLY way the bug could have made it here was to be brought down from Canada in something. Sure enough, the Canadian got a free meal out of it. <_<

Now that I'm on the Front Desk, I've seen all sorts of folks trying to abuse it. I just feel sooo sorry for the servers out there when the '08 DDP starts up.

Off topic, but anyways.

Tirtuatha, I didn't realize we had any CMs here who work at Port Orleans. Which PO do you work at?

My family and I stayed at Riverside in July and really enjoyed it. Were you working there at the time, we might have seen each other and never knew it.

Further off topic, but it's Shorty's fault.

I love the speed bumps outside Riverside.

I have no regrets, this thread was staying on topic to long anyways. :)

We have always had GREAT service at all Disney Park restaurants and when we went to WDW on the Dining Plan we always added an extra tip in cash handed to the server on top of the mandatory tip included. I have no complaints about any service at any Disney Restaurant at all. I can think of other outside restaurants that we have been less than pleased with, but not one Disney venue...That is why we are going to move close enough to WDW to go have meals and enjoy the fun as well. Well, that and we also may want to work as part timers at WDW in our retirement... :D:

Further OT.

I too use those speed bumps at Riverside in my speil. After stopping at FQ, etc. when I come to Riverside South, I say, "For those of you who have forgotten what I have previously said, here is something to shake up your memory." Hits first speed bumps.... Then I say "Just like your snooze alarm" Hits second set of speed bumps.
