I understand the whole thing about YHVH, but if they were to look at the Bible's first verse, it doesn't say "In the beginning, G*d..." Besides, it's one thing to remove the vowel, but to me an asterisk is downright disrespectful. If someone was to replace the "y" in my name with "*" I would be insulted (and I am not talking about "Wallab*"), as it would look to me like they were trying to mention me without, ya know, not mentioning me... suddenly making me the elephant in the room. And if He created the universe and us (as I believe He did), I'm pretty sure He's smart enough to know when we say "G*d" we're referring to him.

I wonder, if I go to that site, if I need to write *bb*, *d*n**, J*h*v*h J*r*h, etc. I don't know, I feel more disrespectful removing the letters than leaving them in there.

Anyway, I am not here to start a religious debate. I'm holding myself back from a tirade about dogma beyond doctrine. I am standing perfectly still right now.

Right, but it hurts me to say it, but the passholes may be right. Would 1/8" really make a difference as long as the child's feet touch the floor, right?? The main reason for the height rule is for safety and that the child doesn't slip out. If they can't reach the floor, they fall out, easy as that!

Yes Rules are Rules. but like I said, there is a difference in up holding the rules and being a jerk.

IMO (If I were a CM) the absolute limit would be 1 inch is too short. Now before you (or anyone else) starts I know there are SG that would be like "Oh he's only 15/16th of an inch too short." That's where you just look at the guest and laugh.

Height is kinda a vague way to determine safety anyways. So what if the same kid came back with thicker socks or brand new shoes. He'd stand taller. He wouldn't BE taller.


The REAL bottom line is this. When that lap bar comes down. 1/8th of an inch is not going to matter. If the person could fall out or get hurt at 39 7/8th inches. they can fall out or get hurt at 40 inches.

I think everybody understands that physically 1/8" doesn't make that much of a difference. But if a child who was 1/8" under the height requirement were to be injured the blame will rest on the CM who let them pass.

Also, as mentioned before, legally things like this need to be clearly set, and regularly enforced. If not, over time there will be so much grey area around the height requirement it will become useless.

The line has to be drawn somewhere. And no CM is an ass just because they are doing their job.

I under stand that 100%. Got to CYA (Cover Your Ass) But if the rule is going to be so strictly enforced, then why not have a system where the child is measured upon entry and given a wrist band indicating they are too short.

I say this because I remember a time when i was a kid. I wanted to ride BTM. My dad took me to the CM at the first check point. I stood there and the CM held up the little measuring stick thing. I was too short. Ok, fine no big deal. But I started to think. We all know that the ground level is different around the park. and at BTM it has an incline, so if the CM put the stick kinda up above the person the stick will be higher and not give a correct measurement. So Maybe Disney needs to have a height check point thats the same. Like maybe have a plat form for the guest to stand on and get measured (like they do at the Doctors office).

Does it make sense?

I would like to take this opportunity to defend AP. I'm an Annual Passholder. I'm not a passhole. I know this because in life I am not an ***hole. At least not that I know of. I don't think that because I paid $$ for my ticket I should get special treatment, in fact it's that fact I can go so often that makes me less high strung. Do I spout Disneyfactoids. NO. I'm too busy spending time with my husband and baby or reading my book, (if I am alone) or eavesdropping on other people's conversations.

Now that Polar has spoken I will speak my mind. It is wrong for anyone to call someone an "ass" for doing their job especially when said person could be fired for allowing someone to break said rule.

The rule is mandated and must be followed or a CM could be fired just as an employee of McDonalds could be fired for breaking rules.

thus you owe the people here an apology for saying that a CM is an ass for not allowing someone to break a rule and thus risking loss of their job.

Very true. One should follow the safety rules without being a jerk about it. But one *must* follow the safety rules -- it's really not an option.

Free advice: Don't every try to hire on or transfer into attractions. If I, or any other trainer or manager in their right mind hears you say something like that, you'll be disqualified from attractions with height limits faster than you can say "hockey stick".

Trust me on this one. I personally helped one CPer spend the balance of their semester at the turnstiles because they lacked the proper attitude about attraction safety.

*Some* 1/8th inch is going to matter. Maybe not the first one, but as you permit shorter and shorter guests to board, one of them is going to be injured or killed. The Company has made a conscious decision about how big the safety margin should be. I don't have enough data to know how much farther it's safe to go, and neither do you.

We tried that. It didn't work. Too many SGs peeling the wristbands off the tall kids and putting them on the short ones.

I never said that CM should ignore the rules. You people are getting all pissy over 1/8th of an inch. Get a damn life.

A Razor Cell phone is thicker. Get real now. If the guest was a whole inch too short I could see the CM saying no. But for 1/8 1/4 1/16, thats just being an ass.
