When we were there, we looked at a development called Reunion which is about 5 miles south of WDW and we checked out Celebration as well. If we were to buy in Celebration it would be a resale, their inventory was down to 3new lots/houses left. We will check out Windermere next trip and some other developments.
There are a number of new neighborhoods being developed in the Windermere area and all are only minutes from Disney. They also have the benefit of being north of WDW and thus avoids all of the tourist traffic and the worst of the local traffic.

The lady wants a smiling palm tree, the lady asks for a smiling palm tree, the lady *gets* a smiling palm tree!

Oh, and add Hunters Creek to your list of places to shop for housing next trip. Just had a small brush fire there Saturday, so it looks worse than normal now, lowering prices even more.

Small????
It started small. It did not finish small. (unless you consider 50 acres small) It was small enough to throw ash all over DTD and the Epcot resorts.
Looked good coming up though. (that's my FF background wishing I was there!)

Yeah, compared to other brush and muck fires we've had in Central Florida this past year, 50 acres *is* small.
Big enough if you're downwind of it, or live nearby, granted.

Years ago David Letterman had Johnny Carson on the phone. Dave asked Johnny how everything was in LA. Johnny replied, "The mud slides are putting out the fires."

That's where I used to live down there. Guess it's a good thing I don't live down there anymore..

Some of the reasons 1 acre brush fires get to be 50 acre brush fires is the approach used here to fight them. Up north, we were aggressive in our attacks and have specialized firefighting trucks for brush fires. The terrain and soil are very much alike between Central Florida and Southeastern Mass. We don't let the fire come to us, we go after it.
In fact, OCFR policy is for it's woods fire trucks to NOT go off road to fight fires. This is one of the reasons fires get big. (it's not the only reason but if you wait for the fire to come to you, it's going to get bigger)
This is one of my former FD's woods fire trucks.

I had one of those when I commuted into San Francisco every day.
