JugglingFreak: Yes, 4 and 5 year olds have active imaginations and make up stuff, but we are talking about an autistic five year old. Many children on the spectrum at that age have problems with abstract thought and cannot make up stories. They are very literal, if you say it, it is true. Furthermore, I got the impression that this story has been verified by other children in the class.

This video goes more in depth:

http://www.breitbart.tv/html/103693.html

It was the nurse who alerted the mother to what happened, and the teacher confirmed the story to the mother and flat out admitted everything.

I figured that the teacher admitted it to some level, like I said, no apparent denial of the occurance has been posted. I agree that children lie, but one thing about autism is that in most cases -great memory skills-no imagination

Well, the video started to play then stopped and wont play again, but I got as far as when the mother started to talk, and the child started trying to talk over her, I can only assume that his actions are the same in a classroom. I can see how this can be very aggravating to a teacher. Again, I do NOT agree with the way the teacher handled it but I can agree with not wanting to deal with this situation every day. I am sure there are special schools for children with special needs, and IMO they would do better there then for parents to try and stick them in a regular public school.

Ok, video worked again. All I have to say is. I really feel sorry for this little boy. his mother is a moron. "There are a lot of people that don't think what they are doing is wrong..AlQuida for instance." Shut up lady. this has NOTHING to do with how you feel about the war. Like the reporter said "Let's not go there."

If this little boy does have problems, why is he not on meds? If he is on meds, then they must not be working and she needs to take him back to a doctor.

Once again I want everyone to know I do NOT agree with what the teacher did. but as I said above. Children with special needs should be in a special school.

Medicine does not fix everything. There's no magic pill for Autism.

I asked the Neurologist when my son was about 7 if any medication would help with any of the autistic behavior and he said there was none- Now that he is grown I've asked his Doctor if he should be on something like Prozac to help with his anxiousness- because he has a hard time figuring out how to handle some of the abuse he gets from the random public. For example, today a high-school girl on the public bus asked to look at his phone. Unwisely, he let her hold it and she immediately used it to send a sexual message to a friend of his. This is only TODAY'S drama, every day it is something.
Doctor didn't want to give him any meds.

He has been placed in various "Regular" classes throughout the years(the rest of the time in special ed classes)...Some kids were helpful, some not. He did benefit from observing and interacting with neurotypical kids, so maybe someday, he will get a job with neurotypical adults :)

It is going to be very hard to put all special needs kids in special schools, even if that would be the Parent's preference. Our Government promises a FREE AND APPROPRIATE EDUCATION for all, and School Districts don't want to pay for more expensive private schools for special needs.
Approx 1 of 150 kids are being diagnosed now with Autism Spectrum Disorders.(1 out of 98 boys)

But there are meds for it that help keep the person calm and under control.

But there are public schools for special kids. And if there needs to be more, then the people need to stand up and demand the government do their job and provide those schools.

Like I said ,there are pros and cons re: integration. Given the rising frequency of ASD, you may see people demanding special public schools.

BUT....

with the increasing frequency, maybe it is not a terrible thing for neurotypical persons to learn how to more successfully deal with ASD at school, in the community, and in the workplace.

It made me happy that not every kid voted out their classmate :)

I certainly hope you're not suggesting that people who are not a danger to themselves or others should all be medicated to keep their behaviors outside the norm "under control." For all you know he's been assessed and they've decided on a non-medicinal method of dealing with his difficulties.
