Several years ago they had the SM soundtrack (the surf guitar one) on one of the CDs of the parks. I recorded it onto my tiny mp3 player. Then I would listen to the mosic while riding the WDW ride. The trick was to time the starting of the playback. But it did add to the ride incredibly. I know the ride tracks are different on the two coasts (and to a minor way between the two tracks at WDW) but when the music was started at the right moment the musical swoops matched the physical ones rather well.

I've only heard rumors of SM going down for refurb this year, nothing definite. Nor have I heard anything definite of what they are going to do to it when it does go down for refurb.
