I got my training schedule starting May 25th! I am so excited that I could skip the two finals I have today. Not really but it is tempting!!!
Woo hoo! I'm so excited for you! I will most definitely stop by to say hello. I'll be easy to recognize because I'll wear my Soarin' Over California shirt and my geeky Soarin' name tag pin that says "Barb" (I don't think they sell 'em in FL). I'm at a major Soarin' deficit; after riding it multiple times in CA, I still haven't made it to Epcot now that we've been home. I just can't handle one hour plus standby lines, and I don't get my butt out of bed early enough to do FPs. If I know you're working some morning, that will give me incentive to get out there early. Between rope drop and FPs, I can get in an impressive number of rides when the crowds are manageable.

The Bubble Ladies brought me one of those awesome pins with my name as well! I wish I could wear it at work! I don't know why they don't sell them in Florida, they could make a killing!
I am working one afternoon training shift and the rest are all morning shifts so I'll be around. I like opening shifts/rope drop. Of course rope drop might not be as fun in the Soarin' costume but W/E I don't care. I am so happy!!!

I remember being out at rope drop at 8:30, and the Soarin crew walking out right before 9. lol. I love rope drop, though. I always loved talking to the guests, asking them their plans for the day.

Usually all of FWW comes at like 8:50-8:55 because we have track talk right beforehand. FWE usually takes care of the ropes and family of the day etc. because people usually mob Soarin' right off the bat. Love you FWE! ;)

Despite what Doctor McKey says about pixie dust at Animal Kingdom, we do have some very special things we can do, especially first thing in the morning. My favorite is the First Family, where you select a family that is waiting for the rope drop, take them on the safari where you are sitting in the back with them while someone else drives. Where our regular show times are under 19 minutes, I've been on First Family safaris that went as long as 25 minutes because I got them to the dock early enough and we were cleared into the savanna up to ten minutes early. I've had families that have tried thanking me with everything from handshakes and hugs (always accepted) to tips and meals after I get off work and stuff like that... which, with the families I select for First Family would be fun, but I do decline.
For First Family, I always screen the guests, because I want to select a family that's going to have fun out there, enjoy and appreciate the thing that is happening to them. Sorry, but I don't speak any language but English, and if you don't understand English, I don't see any point taking you as First Family with me, as you won't get the full effect of what we are doing for you. When I get to do First Family, it doesn't matter what happens the rest of the day, you just can't get me down after that, For some families, it's something that is just as special, if not more so, than staying in the Castle. I call it my moment on Dream Squad.
Actually, I can't wait for that first time I have a family in the front cab on the monorail, then the next morning I take them as the First Family... :D:
