Stupid Guest Tricks

I met quite a few MAW kids at the PPH and many of them even asked me for my autograph. Made me want to cry thinking about some of those kids a week later, or even now, over 2 years later.

It makes my already high blood pressure shoot through the roof to hear that people take advantage of these families. I'm sure glad I was never in a position to be really taken advantage of by these ultimate SGs (other than maybe my compassion), and I'm with you guys who think that MAW fakers should be punished with some life-threatening illness.

I have a friend whose young daughter had cancer. After she had been in remission for at least a year, maybe two, MAW wanted to send them on a trip. He told them she's in remission and doing just fine, but they said that didn't matter. So, MAW sent them on a cruise (a Disney cruise, I think).

One night they were sitting in the front row of a show on the ship and a man asked my friend how did he score such great seats? My friend said, "We're on a Make-A-Wish trip." The guy embarrasingly said, "Oh," and said nothing more.

They had a great trip, BTW. Thanks, MAW!

So, yeah, MAW used to be only for the worst of the worst conditions, but they have had so much funding come in that they are able to help more and more children, even those in remission! :D:

Many organizations are starting to send children with life threatening illneses and serious chronic illnesses. Which is great! Many children who are not terminal at the time may face that possibility later, it only makes sense to give them the option of going while they are healthy enough to fully enjoy the trip. Sadly, you never know when a kid who is in remission will get sick again or a kid with a chrnoic illness who is healthy will take a turn from the worse. These families rarely have a chance to go to places like WDW even when their kids are diong well because so much of their money is spent on medical treatment.

Why should anyone be embarrassed and walk sheepishly away? They can simply reply, "That's awesome! Enjoy your yourselves!"
