Main Streeter wrote:Polar33, not doubting you but how can an employer ban an employee from carrying cash? This question sounds stupid
yet I'm asking so I can understand.
A lot of us who work with Other People's Money don't carry cash when we do. It makes life very simple when some SG accuses us of shortchanging them or pocketing money. The boss can count the drawer and even search me, but won't find a cent that doesn't belong to the Company.
I think that Companies that make this a policy for any cash-handling role are doing their employees a favor, and minimizing the false accusations of SG's at the same time.
And if Disney can make me take off my obscene t-shirt and wear nothing but scratchy polyester all day....

Granted, it's because they don't allow them to carry cash so they can figure out easily who is stealing, but it's a free meal none the less.
They do this for Vendors, Entertainment (as compensation for the heat of the costumes,) and possibly Foods. In rides, we were allowed to carry cash, so didn't get them. I'm not sure about other departments.

Not to get back on topic ;) but I was reading on the portal, and it showed pictures of things like EPCOT CM's getting a bag of potato chips, AK getting rice crispy treats, and then (no pictures) mentioned that CMs from the Grand Floridian, Poly, and Contemporary were getting limo rides from their cast parking lots. Why do I have the strange feeling that these limo rides didn't happen? Can anyone confirm that they have? This seems like the kind of thing that the company would be all over to show to all the CMs how well their treating us, and that they have finalized some of the bigger prizes and surprizes for us.
Let it be known that I am in no way ungrateful for free cookies and sodas. Its a great start and I know it got me excited about that day of work. Heres to Magic Backstage

I was on a break in Disneyland a couple weeks ago, some woman said there was a limo waiting for some people in the parking lot where she parked, and she took the opportunity to get driven up to Harbor Pointe... I wish that someone could do that for someone that comes in from the 15 Minute Parking like me *grin*

[quote="bpgstudios"]Not to get back on topic ]Limo rides most definitly happened at Contemporary at least one day last week. One of my friends who was working over there was telling me about it, and they aren't the only ones I heard about it from. Some poor clueless rookie who was there that day was asking me the next what happened to the limo. They thought it was like that every day. :P

Thanks Zazu for your valid answer. I'm in Stores & am wondering why this policy of no cash has not been put in place? Have never had problems with guest accusations but the day will dawn.
Wouldn't bother me if there was a no cash ban. Wallet could remain in car during my shift as I never use a locker. Too many horror stories! Working cashless would deprive me of large choc milk & my needed coke fix from break rooms. :(

Yeah, they happened. I got one.
Drove me about 100 yards of the 200 yards from my car to the Tower, then dropped me in front when I have to use the rear entrance. Must have saved me perhaps 50 yards of walking.
Plus somebody had drunk all the booze already!

If Disney wants to get *me* excited about a day at work they could get me a second pair of pants. I've been wearing the same trousers for two months now -- I'm not getting paid to wash them, and I won't turn them in without a new pair to wear -- and their smell isn't getting better with the passage of time. The last estimate I got from Costuming was that new costumes would be issued for my role in October 2007!!!
