There was a new guy at Soarin'... I can't even remember his name...
Anyways... He went through three trainers before he was asessed. Usually, for Soarin', you have two days of training followed by one day with your assesor following you. So three trainers and an assesor... Yeah.
Well... he never was very bright. He used to tell talk back to the guests something fierce. "Is it really 90 minutes?" "I've already answered that question enough today, so you need to shut up." Yeah.
Well... After my program ended, I was still in town for several more days, and when my mom flew in, I took her to EPCOT to meet my friends from Soarin' and they informed me that he was banished to perma-greeter... Because...
The ride almost got dispatched when a guest didn't have his seatbelt on. He was the final gate, and he gave the clear, and just before the person in tower hit dispatch... This guy in the first row stood up and starts tugging on his seatbelt... which was buckled underneath him the whole time! And this guy never notice.
Yet, still not fired. Nope. Just sent to be a greeter. Where he tells guests to shut up. Thank god for Disney management.

Transfering from DCA to DL is NOT EASY!! Managers don't transfer problem CMs. CM has to return to Casting, go through a complete interview, have ALL pers records reviewed by Casting. The transferring CM cannot have any verbals nor writtens. The DCA Complex Manager must authorize CM's transfer request as well as the CM's Team Manager. Before a valid transfer goes through 2 DL managers must accept a transfer & show there is a cast need for the DCA transfer. The entire process can take up to 5 months. All scheduling seniority is lost.

DCA transfers are few & not for those without a firm goal.

O k, so I found out on Friday that the girl that got me fired that got fired didn't transfer from DCA. She got FIRED from DCA, lied about it, saying she got fired from points, but she was accused with sexual harrassement, and reapplied at DL. Someone wrote a statement about her and now, she's GONE!!!

That is very good news. Glad she is gone. Now she will not hurt anyone else in Disney. Hope she does not move on to Knott's.

On my CP in 2001 I knew 2 people who were stupid. One of them was a friend of mine, we actually drove to FL together. He was smoking weed on his Vista pourch and the girls upstairs, my roomates, turned him in. They did a search of his apt and sat him and his 5 roomates down. He confessed right away so they wouldn't get in trouble for his stupidity. The ironic thing is that one of my roomates that turned him in was always on "E". She threatened to "Kick my ass"...a direct quote

if I told anyone. So I told and got moved...they couldn't do anything because if they did a search for "E" they weren't trained to know what to look for.
The second was a friend of a roomate. She was one of the bright ones to call in(she really was sick and her mom was coming in town) and then took her mom to Planet Hollywood and used her discount

They termed her they next day when she went to clock in.
Oh and there was a girl I worked with at ASSp who got a guy transferred for sexual harassment...he was a bit creepy but totally harmless IMO. He hit on me too, but I just ignored him and after awhile he dropped it. The girl that turned him in was a total lazy ass. She always called in and when she did show up she was useless...I never understood why she kept her job.

Oh, man!
You guys have it rough for sure. From reading all these posts here, it seems all of you former and current CMs are figuratively "walking through a large minefield" of potential "reasons" to get reprimanded or fired from your positions. It is amazing to me how some CMs and higher-ups get away with all that egotistical trash to their fellow CMs while the receiving victim(s) gets shafted in one form or another. :( I hope that I'm not patronizing here, but I do feel sorry for you guys. Another set of uncalled for and outrageous situations for those who are trying legitimately to make the Disney parks functional "normally" as best as their abilities.
In fact, your stories are scaring me from wanting to participate in any capacity with the Disney parks in the future. I mean, the abuse of power seems to be "the norm" lately for you CMs. Also, it seems that there isn't a proper and functional ombudsman mechanism to deal with CM complaints whatsoever. Sure, the inexcusable offenses should lead that person to be fired, but what about for those who are in the "damn you do; damn you don't" circumstances?
As for the "points" system or another form, when it comes to disciplinary actions against a CM, how in the world does it work? I can assume that it is put into your permanent employment record in their files. With the way I am seeing it with your posts, it looks like it is a rather strict operation for you people, when working for Disney.

Everytime you call into work and say that you wont working that day, you recieve 3 points and if you are late for any reasons at all, not clocking in on time, you recieve 1.5 points. Doing once or twice is no big deal, but f you keep on doing it, it adds up and have more then a certain amount of points in a time period, you can get suspended, get a written or verbal warning, or even can get fired!! That is how serious it is!!

And this differs from low-paid positions elsewhere how? Do you really think that Disney has hired *all* the moron managers?

Actually, Disney is quite a bit better on this score than most of the companies I've worked for over the years. YMMV.
Also, it seems that there isn't a proper and functional ombudsman mechanism to deal with CM complaints whatsoever.
Actually, there are at least two systems available to all front-line MCs in most situations, and sometimes more.
The internal systems include appeals to management, an anti-harassment program (with a BIG club), and EOE programs.
The external system is the CMs Union. Unions will always have limited clout in a "right to work" state like Florida where membership isn't required. Even so, I've seen CMs who were wrongly discharged be reinstated with as much as $43,000 in back pay and restoration of position, trainer status, seniority, and vacation benefits. Making a mistake of that magnitude pretty well ends a manager's future with the company, too.
As for the "points" system or another form, when it comes to disciplinary actions against a CM, how in the world does it work?
It works just like it says in the Union contract, or folks get their jobs back.
Of course, all this requires a Union that has the financial support of enough dues-paying members to be healthy and the physical support of enough members to be active.
<insert plug for CMs to join their Union here><insert supplemental plug for this being a contract year here>
