A While back while working at LMA at Studios, and we had Britney Spears. Let me tell you that she is one stuck up bitch who walked out on the show after a young guest asked for an autograph. Later she tried to have the VIP castmember escorting her fired for the insodent. It didn't happen, but according to my friend, she got angry at his manager and threatoned to never come back. Neither of us knows what happened after that.

I did also have had a run in with Rosie O'donald (Yes, I do know how to really spell it but I refuse to on the grounds that she is a bitch and deserves my contempt due to the fact that she is the reason that I was fired from Universal) It all started when I was working at Dueling Dragons, when she brought up a group of kids one of witch was only 46', (the minimum hight for DD is 54') I was the unfortunate TM who saw this and pulled him off the ride and informed him that he was too short and for his own safety, he was not being permitted to ride. Since I have had a long and respected past with B&M Coasters from back when I was with Busch Gardens, I knew that although the safety hight is a bit conservitave on the short side, (usually around two to four inches depending on the type of coaster, and on an Inverted Coaster, the physical minimum hight is accually around 51'.) Anyway, as the child started to walk of, here comes miss O'dushbag and she doesn't look happy. Almost immedatly, she through the "Do you know who I am?" card and demanded that we alow the kid to ride. My manager came up and as I believe Universals general pollicy includes caving to celebrities, he sat the child down, and ordered me to send the train. I refused citeing that the child was not only too short, but barely fit in the harness, and if I was going to sent this train we would find the kid in the Universal show lagoon. We continued back and fourth for a while until my manager attempted to bypass my console and I was forced to depress the ride stop. To make a long story much shorter, I was forced to walk out, but I didn't loose my job right then and was back on the next Monday. I was fired at the end of that summer for something so silly that I was only able to conclude that the Rossie incodent was the real reason.

But there are also good stories. Like my experiance with Will Smith at LMA. He wasn't feeling to well and I guess the tire fumes got to him, so he sat back by the elevator through the rest of the show and talked with me and the two other CMs that were with me. Also, Rod Stwart, was very plesent and even sent me an autograph for my mother. (I didn't ask, he volenteared). Also H had repeated conversations with Warrick Davis and his family during a series of rained out shows.

As of yet, I haven't seen any celebs over at the monorail.

OK OT but it did come up here and you guys would be the best and most knowledgeable folks

Having a Plaid led tour, I am assuming these are the ones the Disney website calls VIP tours where you pay like $150 an hour for min of 6 hours.

Assuming that is the case I have been thinking of doing this for my family for their holiday gift this year, last year was the all day tour and for my family this is cheaper and seems more likely to fit our needs. Would there happen to be any Plaids on SGT that might answer some questions or would anyone know how in depth one can arrange their own tours? You see we are a family of engineers and urban planners so we are interested in the HOW things work sort of tour on a very in-depth level. We LOVE the CMs and the fantastic work you all do so HOW you do what you do is key to us.

Yes we are geeks and proud of it :p:

I'm not even sure Disney would indulge such a request but you guys may be the best folks to ask before I call guest services.

Sorry back to your more entertaining topic :)

If you haven't already read it, you should pick up a copy of Stephen M. Fjellman's Vinyl Leaves: Walt Disney World and America. It's an in-depth sociological study of WDW, and it covers EVERYTHING, including many technical details about how the parks are run. It is by far my favorite academic work on Disney, and I've read a LOT of those. It's kind of baroque in places, and it's a little outdated because it was written in 1994, but it's a fascinating and fun piece of work. (You don't need to have a background in sociology to read it - it's quite accessible - but it does help to be familiar with The Social Construction of Reality and other influential works.)

As others have noted, this sounds like a job for Zazu. In addition to being a park historian, I also have a background in urban planning and engineering, so I do speak geek.

I'd be more than happy to arrange to give an architectural, planning, and design tour of the various parks for you. Plus, I'll do it for $150/hour less than a plaid escort who might not have the faintest idea about the technical issues you'd be asking about.

I do need to organize my schedule well in advance, especially if I have a conflict with my work schedule, but I'll do what I can to match your schedule.

Drop me a PM and we can talk more. :dilbert:

My list is kind of short, and surprisingly, from my time as an AP holder.

Tom Hanks: He was in the park directing the Disneyland scenes in That Thing You Do. Obviously, since he was working, I couldn't get anywhere near him, and even if I could have, I wouldn't have tried.

Ton Loc: This was well after he'd entered his has been phase. I was in the park one day, and decided to go on Space Mountain. He and his entourage were about three or four parties behind me in line.

Actually, that reminded me of one. I almost was run over by Tom Hanks when he was in DHS filming Earth to the Moon. My area had to cut through the production area to get to things like the ATM machine, cafeteria, etc. He drove a little red sports car (I assume it was him - the car was the same one that was always parked in the space with his name on it). One afternoon it came whizzing around a corner just as I'd stepped off the curb. I jumped back and he kept going. I couldn't see if it was him driving, but I like to tell people I was nearly run over by Oscar Winner Tom Hanks!

Bob Iger was on the 4-day Disney cruise with us in January 2007, along with a film crew. In December 2007 we kept running into D.J. Rick and a film crew who were filming a new promotional video aimed at kids for the Disney Cruise Line. I've seen Rick's videos on YouTube but forgot what radio station he's with. We also saw him at Epcot after the cruise.
