Official SGT ADD thread

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

I concur. Those were disappointing. That last one was just a slap.

Invisible Dragon It was great when they were getting ready to produce this and made a request for a live cat. The cat was not harmed in the making of this video. The egos of all humans involved are another matter.

Unpleasant experience

Post by Giraffe44 » Mon May 28, 2012 11:35 am

Since this thread is for anything, I thought I'd use it to ask for opinions about an experience the other half and I had at DAK a couple of weeks ago. We've lived in FL for roughly a year and have been visiting the parks with our AP roughly once a week. We usually go to DAK as we are animal lovers. We are in our late 60's and have the usual old fart deterioration problems. I use a cane. My husband is deaf and situations where people come at him with unexpected verbal demands made him extremely upset. Anyhow we got to the bag check. They checked my purse. No problem. Then the woman told him to take off his vest. It's as sort of fisherman/photographer's vest with pockets for the camera, GPS, etc. She put her hand on his vest and demanded he remove it and open the pockets. Meanwhile people were going by with cargo pants etc. with lots of pockets. He, of course, hadn't the faintest idea what she wanted. I tried to explain but he didn't get why he should be the only person there asked to disrobe. The CM called a supervisor who was incredibly nasty. I told her we had been there--with vest--every week and it had never been questioned before. She said, "well, I do it right" in a truly surly voice. I was really mad by this time although not raising my voice or cursing or anything. She had a sort of swagger and was obviously enjoying my husband's discomfort. I said one or two nasty things about bullies, which wasn't smart but I was truly upset for my husband. He kept saying "what's going on?" Well, we finally got through and I reported her at guest services. Our day was ruined, though.

Someone who didn't know how to add a Spoonful of Sugar is my guess-or maybe CMs were told to focus on vests? Wouldn't let it ruin everything. You've told GR and now you've told it here. Wish I could go to DAK every week, you are fortunate! :)

Second DisneyMom. Could be a change in policy or a crackdown on policy already standing, could have been someone recently smuggled something in with a vest, who knows? The CM didn't handle it well, you reported them, aside from griping about it not much else you can do. Disney does sometimes change its rules (or decide to enforce rules that have been on the books a while but ignored -- witness the Fastpass threads on many a Board X), not much you can do but go with the flow.

Pretty much anywhere you go, there'll be personnel changes that can mean changes in how you're treated -- if it's a local coffeeshop with the same management, you can maybe get the manager and have them reteach the employee or whatever, but with a big corporation like Disney current rules trump tradition, in my experience.

"A little swordplay, now and then, keeps my mind off sheep!"

"You're messing with my Zen thing, man."

"Dreams are as portals,
flat visions of misty places,
fragments bound below my surface,
but I can write dreams,
they flow from me,
inscribed but now unbound,
I touch them,
and they are real,
and they are real."
