Port and starboard - left and right sides of a boat.
Sheets - running lines on a boat.
Head - toilet.
Jib - head sail.
And sooooooooo many more.

LOL I remember explaining to a friend how to remember Port and Starboard. Our answer was "Port is Left, it has the same number of letters. Starboard is right.. cause it as more now stop asking questions and drink more!
Standard Pirate-style answer!
Yeah some nick-name origins are odd and unusual. Most people can't explain them when you ask so I started doing internet search to figure them out ;)

Reminds me of an old joke. A new first mate comes onto a ship serving under a Captain he admires. The Captain has one unusual routine. Every morning he goes to his desk, unlocks it, pulls out a small chest, unlocks that, stares inside a moment or two, and then puts everything away. Years go by and the routine never varies. Finally the Captain retires and the first mate advances. He can hardly wait to go to the desk and see what's in the box. He opens it up and finds a small piece of paper inside. On it, neatly written are six words:
Left is Port,
Right is Starboard.
:D:

I don't recall the origins of port but IIRC starboard is from "steerboard", an old name for the rudder, which was always mounted on the right side of the boat.

In order not to damage the steerboard when they came into port, the crew would park the left side of the boat against the dock.

If you sail, the term for being drunk, "three sheets to the wind" is especially funny.
There is also rode for rope. That is one of my favorites. Dunno why.
