Why am I ravenous-to-the-point-of-nausea when I get up an hour early, but if I sleep in an hour I've I've no real interest in food? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Hawai‘i has two species of owls, the introduced barn owl and the endangered Hawaiian owl or pueo.
The barn owl was introduced to the islands in 1958 to control rodents. The owls preferred insects over mice so, like the introduced mongoose, it was another failed project.
