We had a grass fire today that started about 100 yards up the hill from the nearest home. Within minutes the wind carried it down the hill almost a half mile to the highway.
The fire department helicopter normally picks up water from the ocean. As time was of the essence, he used one of my neighbor's pool.
The lady next door to the pool was hosing her shake roof off so the nice pilot decided to help by bombing her house.
Yeaaaaaa fire department!!

This is not starting well. I wore some tennies to the airport that i bought about three years ago. I think I've only worn them twice. I get dropped off and the sole of one fell off. Probably the heat and salt air on Maui ate the glue. Lucky I've got sandals with me.
TSA doesn't like knee braces. I get the third degree. That's what I get for growing old and having parts wear out.
Flight is good to LAX. I get a seat mate who is heading on to NY, NY. Fitful sleep but they had a decent pizza for a late snack.
On to Chicago and then Cincinnati.

Just had to correct something...
"People can drink coke and pepsi, but they can't pee in the street."
Hope you have a Safe and enjoyable trip, and we are definitely wanting to see you to DLR, will notify you ASAP if meeting on the 9th will be interupted but WE ARE NOT THINKING THIS WILL HAPPEN! :) Keep us Updated.
What a difference a flight makes. The Maui/LAX was mostly happy people heading home after a fun time in Hawaii. The LAX/ Chicago leg could best be described as sullen. No one looked very happy. The Chicago/Cincinnati leg could best be described as HO scale. I've never sat in an airline seat so small with so little leg room. No wonder regional jets don't fly for much more than an hour.
We drove by Kings Island on the way to my friend's house. They're hiring for the Fall season, There's also a couple of water parks near by.
Tomorrow we're taking a Cesena and flying to see a partially restored B-17.

You need to head to Evergreen Air Museum in McMinnville, OR. Why? Well, for one thing it is a museum that was in the running for one of the space shuttles (the owner really worked hard to make it happen... when you walk around the museum you can see where it was supposed to go, though they don't draw any attention to it. Second, they have a water park. Not just any water park, but this water park:

Four slides start in that 747. I have my picture with my brother in the cockpit of the Spruce Goose somewhere on my computer, I'll have to find it for you. The price to sit in the seat Howard Hughes occupied during that flight really isn't that bad if you're into planes.
Oh, and as a special treat, here is that 747 landing at MMV:

Got one more for ya, I wasn't sure if this was out there. It is a video played at the water park when you are in the 747, where you can see nose to tail the entire interior:
This is the 747 being placed atop the building, using harnesses that are usually only used to clean up a wreck. What a nice way to use them this time!
