We where eating Tonys and these people sitting next to us started yelling at the server when he came back and told them that the dinning plan they had was QS only. They said that the booked online and when they read QS they thought that they where paying extra so that they would get the food faster that people without the dinning plan  Then they ordered him to comp the meal and then upgrade the plan to TS because they had not understood. This poor guy was much nicer than I would have been. He gave them a small discount and told them to go to guest services because he could not do anything regarding there package purchase.

I wonder if this belongs in another scam thread ? Anything that i have encountered when booking online has multiple explanations of what the plan you are buying includes. Only by willfully ignoring all those statements could you not be aware of what it was you were buying.
And thinking that "Quick Service" meal plan meant getting served faster ?? Give me a break. Even at check in the CM explains what you are entitled to, and offers more info if you would like it.
Ignorance is no excuse here. I vote SCAM.

I'm not saying you're definitely wrong, but unfortunately, I *do* think you're overestimating the general public's reading comprehension skills. The average person has a natural ability to 1. ignore willfully any written statements, as you pointed out and 2. misunderstand some, many, or all significant or insignificant details in whatever actually does get read.

Then there's people who just flat-out don't bother reading stuff. Then they wonder why they get into trouble later.

Like the tickets and stuff?
you should see the full page text when you buy a AP online.
it's a sheet you print with a bar code for you to go get your AP at the parks.

Actually, I don't think the average member of the general public would do these things. The average SG would, though!

I call shenanigans!

Then again, how many people wander the parks and think you have to pay for FastPass?

Agreed. With so many planning programs and online sources. Ignorance is no excuse.

BirdMom wrote:When I was a Main Entrance lead in Anaheim, I saw more than a few occasions where Guest Relations had decided to go ahead and refund the guest's admission and parking for the day. The routine was that they would put the cash refund in a ticket envelope, escort the guest's party through the exit and make sure that the CM did not give re-entry handstamps, then hand the guest their refund outside the exit on the way to the parking lot tram.

I don't remember what the circumstances were, but as our Guest Services Manager always tried to instill in us was the fact that the park was fully paid for, and it wouldn't cost Disney that much to accommodate the guests if at all possible, and it would create goodwill, along with the possibility of them returning and spending more money in the future.
Thank you BirdMom for sharing this story. It reminded me of a very nice experience a close friend had when he first visited DisneyLand alone two years ago.

He lives in the Northeast, and flew out to CA for a convention that took place over a couple of days. It was his first time at DL, and he was very excited to finally be able to check it out. He had purchased a ticket the day he visited the Park, but due to the rainly weather that took place in the afternoon his day was cut short. He was soaked to the bone and decided he had best leave as it was chilly and it was spoiling his experience.

On his way out to the exit turnstiles he ran into a friendly CM who took pity on his desheveled appearence. They got talking, and my friend explained his slight dissapointment in not being able to see everything he wanted to due to the weather and time just running out for him. He did not complain, as he knew it was his own fault for not coming prepared. Basically he paid for a full days admission, but was there for a only a few hours until the clouds burst.

So the CM decided to make his day in a BIG way and gave him a free ticket to come back the next day to see all the things he had not been able to. Said CM was very kind to do this! As my friend told the story, this CM felt really bad that his 1st visit to DisneyLand was a bit spoiled by the wet weather. So he was given another days' ticket and was warmed very much by the kind gesture.

I thought this was amazing...and i was so happy for my friend as he really was bummed at not being able to hit all the attractions he wanted to see. He went the next day and used his 'gift ticket' to have a great time on his own...and was very happy to have been able to experience all that DL had to offer.

I love a happy ending, and i love CMs who go out of their way to help Guests who are deserving of receiving such treats....the RIGHT way...without having to reward rude Guests. :)

I think it's amazing, too, but I would guess it'd be more common in Disneyland than WDW, for the simple reason that, unless you're going Jan-March, your odds of dealing with rain at Disneyland are somewhere between slim to none. :p: And, going on my experience in other semi-arid areas, I'll bet that when it does come down, often enough it's a torrent. People who don't prepare for rain in "Sunny California" are likely a bit more reasonable than people who don't prepare for rain in "the lightning capital of the world," Orlando. ;)
