As a guest, I can (sort of) understand the intent to search on entry. The only reasonable excuse I would imagine on exit is you thought I stole something. Entry = Safety (or allusion of). Exit = What are you taking that I don't want you to have!

Definitely illusion of safety. Disney's searches are more security theater than anything else. Note, for instance, how they don't search under coats or long skirts. (I'm not saying they should! I'm just pointing out that the cursory bag searches are minimal. Which is fine with me.)

If you look at the originating post, you should see two links to the information (pretty sure). If not, it was on the blog as a hot link. Can't remember which. I just remember that I read the blog and then read an article in the examiner. *shrug*

That is the key to the success in this. You can't change how people feel about you, especially when they have been violated like the author had. Had the author gone after the guy without the help of security and management, I would have a completely different take on this story.

As far as what others think about you, you can't change that. I look at every person I can around me, both out of an enjoyment of watching other people and a slight leftover paranoia (which IS going away, just give it time). You can't tell me that as I take stock of those around me, there haven't been people who saw me doing my people-watching and thought I was thinking different things than what I was. Just the nature of people there.

I appreciate the guy's honesty of his THOUGHT PROCESS here. I respect his restraint and wisdom given the situation. Yes he did ask the CMs to search the guy's bag, but what's the harm in asking. He didn't cause a big scene. He remained inconspicuous. And yes, in the end, the combination of aggressive action, speed, persistence, AND restraint paid off and I would bet that this guy has a bullet-proof case against him now.
