Sorry for the late update, guys, but needless to say, I've been spending most of my time the last three days at the hospital, and Hoag doesn't have wifi in the patient rooms.
Warning: The following may be a bit on the TMI side for some people.
Purpie's surgery went pretty well, all things considered. The doctor removed a mass the size of a softball along with the assorted female plumbing. However, the initial pathology was inconclusive. While the mass appeared to be benign at first examination, there were some microscopic carcinomas in it, and they still haven't gotten the final pathology as of yet. Hopefully, this is, at the worst, a pre-malignant mass at this point, which, should this be the case, means that we may have dodged a bullet, as early detection of Ovarian Cancer is truly difficult, due to the fact that many symptoms are also symptomatic of other problems.

It's good to hear that everything went all right (so far).

Tell her we all said "HI".

It sounds indeed like the mass if left where it was could have become cancerous

I hope no more surgeries or medication will be needed after this one heals, and smooth sailing from now on. FEEL BETTER PURPURA! :)

With any luck, Darph, she'll be home tomorrow night, but I'll definitely pass on the message. She'll appreciate it.

We're hoping and praying for the same thing, DisneyMom (other than the obvious need for hormone replacement therapy.) Still, we won't know for certain until the final pathology report on the tumor comes in, which could be tomorrow, or could be several more days, depending on how many people end up consulting on it. In the meantime, the doctor is hoping to discharge her from the hospital sometime tomorrow.

Hoag is absolutley The Best hosp. in O.C.! Only the finest Drs. & staff at Hoag. Great ocean view from many rooms & valet parking too. Friend was at Hoag a few weeks ago & we had wifi. Maybe this depends on which bldg & the floor. Anyway, her care now & after care is/will be first class.

Well, she's not coming home today after all, unfortunately. I will relay everyone's good wishes when I get over there to see her tonight.

Waiting and hoping for more good news. Don't let her come home until she's good and ready.

Should I send in the fire dancers for a morale booster?
