Here's another question for you.

How much time should I budget for getting to the CP Housing area from MCO using the Mears Transportation (is it a Bus? Taxi? Van? their site seems to indicate all three :confused :) .

I arrive on 20 May, the day before that is a special statewide election here in California that I, sorta absent-mindedly, volunteered to work at as a Polling Place Inspector. What I'm planning to do is take a red-eye out of LAX/SNA after I get off at 8:00-9:00 P.M., which I can expect to arrive into MCO (with connections) at about 10:00 A.M. the next day.

I know I have to be there by about 1:30-ish, so I'm wondering if this is possible, or if I should be making other plans (it's still early enough that I can tell the Registrar of Voters that I can't make it).

Also, I'm just wondering, is WDW QSR F&B a Globally Deployed/Scheduled role?

Here at the DLR, we sign off QSR CMs on one location, but then proceed to schedule them within the same position (we have seperate classifications for Counter/Cashier/BOH/Busser/etc.) at restaurants located throughout both parks (though not Hotels as that would be crossing Union lines).

Is it like that at WDW? Do F&B CMs there get schedules that have them at MK one day, Epcot the next, and then the Grand Floridian the day after?

I'm pretty certain that F&B is NOT a global position. You'll be assigned a certain restaurant.

Mears has all three, and assigns them based on the number of people to be moved. One can never guess how long they'll wait at the airport for other guests or how many stops they'll make before yours. Best answer is to call them a couple of days before.

It'll be tight, but it sounds possible. Trouble is, you may get some flack if the flight is delayed.

I advise calling the Registrar and asking if they have somebody to cover your assignment -- no sense in burning that bridge without cause.

No. For QSFB, you either get QSR or ODF. If you get QSR, you will usually be in one location unless you are cross-trained (I did QSFB, and got Casey's Corner. I was there the whole time, but could have been trained for the bakery or ice cream parlor). For ODF, you could work around the whole park. But you stay in the one park.

Here's a completely unrelated question.

After my programme ends, I'm thinking of applying for a Full Time position.

However, with the economy the way it is (though it seems to be showing faint signs of getting better *crosses arms/legs/feet/toes, proceeds to fall off chair*), WDW is only hiring CRs off a waiting list.

Assuming the economy doesn't improve by January, if I somehow get a CR position, could I pick up another PT position at say....Universal *shivers*? I know that tends to be somewhat frowned upon here at the DLR with CMs being employed at KBF at the same time.

Also, what are Universal's PT requirements?

I could also try for CT status, just so I can maintain my status with the company long enough to get back home and reapply at DLR.

Hopefully by the time your program ends we'll be hiring again and you'll be able to go FT. I heard we are starting to hire again some, mostly in QSR. Maybe that's a sign that soon enough we'll be hiring more people to more roles.

I never had any problem with it when I worked Universal and DLR at the same time back in 2005. And my friend in the Silhouette Shop worked KBF and DLR at the same time for years.

Anyway, my house is packed (somewhat), my arrangements are set (I think), and I'm ready to move myself to the Sunshine State in exactly two weeks (depends on your definition of "ready" :p :) .

Before I plunge headfirst into the absolute nightmare that I'm sure is the Walt Disney World Resort during summer peak season, I would love to get to meet some of the East Coast SGT Crew. To that end, I've set up a little meet and greet the night after I arrive.

I've made ADRs at Boma, located at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge at 19:10 the night of the 21st. If anyone's interested in coming, shoot me a PM :) . The ADR is for four, but I'm sure that can be increased if more people would like to come.

I would love to go, but unfortunately I don't arrive until Aug. :(

Hopefully I will run into you then.
