Owning a cat indeed! Dogs get owned; cats get worshiped (or else!).
You are so right Zazu.
Dogs think man is god because man feeds them, loves them, and gives them toys.
Cats
know that they are god because man feeds them, houses them, pampers them, dotes over them, and keeps them entertained.

So right. You don't own a cat, they own you.

I was only using a general term! Yeesh!
Yeah, I know; dogs have owners and cats have staff.
Dogs will instantly respond to your command, cats will take a message and get back to you later.
Cats rule, dogs drool.
The bit about any animal owning you that I've heard is that horses own you, you don't own a horse. I used to live in horse country, and people told me that. You don't own horses, they own you. Because they are so expensive to keep. Cats and dogs, on the other hand, are way cheaper. You don't have to trim hooves or reshoe them every six weeks, like you do a horse, and their food, etc. costs less and requires less room for storage.

Wow, the cats I have owned had normal names. ;)
There was my first cat Lucky Bristlefur-had a horseshoe on his tummy and never got past that SOS pad fur stage.
Then we had Chernabog, Cerebus ( a play on the three headed dog that guards Hades) Shere Khan and Bagheera. These two cats were given away as kittens. (yeah, I'm a Disney freak. Can you tell?)
Destiny (who we didn't own, but seemed to come into our apartment to have 2 separate litters)
Starla, a kitten from Destiny's litter that only lived a few hours.
And Kreuger, who ran away when my ex left the door open.
Then there was Alice. (my favorite cat, I miss her)
Now I have my puggle, Jen-e-fur, named for the heroine in the Rule of Rose VG.
But there are rumors I may get a black kitty for my birthday this year. If it's true, I may finally have my Boris.

Yeah, normal, like on Newsradio, when a psychic told Matthew that she was seeing that his cats had goofy, cutesy names, and he dismissed her with, "Nope. Not even close. They're called Choo-Choo and Mitt-Mitt. Good try, though."
