I trade pins, but I'm not all psychotic about it. I collect Alice in Wonderland pins, and others that have some significance. Rarity and value mean nothing to me. I appologize if CMs do not like the pins I trade, as I did not know it was of any significance to them. I thought the Company kept them. Although, If a CM says they like one of my pins, I trade with them so they can have it, usually. I also never ask to see a CM's lanyard if they are talking to a guest or appear to be in a rush. I do have more than one board of pins hanging on my wall of Disney, but I don't consider myself one of those "RAR! GIMME PINS!! " types. I do feel awfully foolish if I ask a CM more than once to see their pins, whicch has happened once.

I guess the appeal is, at least it was for me... that the CM lanyards often have pins you CAN'T buy for yourself, well... except on e-bay from pin traders. Otherwise I'd just as soon buy them off the rack and save myself the trouble.

I would hold out a handful of pins and let the CM choose one usually or if I had a working lanyard I would let them choose off of that. Some like to have their favourite character and others wanted something for the kids.
I was a pin stalker and fight the urge to dig out my spare pins.

Lately,if I see pins that I like , I just buy them on eBay. I was able to get the WDW carousel mystery tin pins that I wanted, but were impossible to find at DL in trading. It is easier than trying to fight the pin sharks (at least in person) and worrying if you have decent trading pins.
