From
Wikipedia:
HERE is a better article with a scan from the newspaper of the fire.
God how I hate Wikipedia. I can't believe how many times I hear "Wikipedia does not care about the truth, only what can be cited. So if some guy has a web page and says "All WDW monorails are green with pink polka dots. and then someone reads that and puts in in the Wikipedia article and cites that page. then it is left in the article. Truth or not. This is why most (if not all) colleges/universities do not allow Wikipedia as a source for writing papers.
Anyway, back to the thread.
YAY! So I guess I should drive monorails. WOO HOO!

Hey BW, shall the monorail CM's be worried that non-pilots like PapaMouse & I know so much about the monorails already??
Silver because of the fire?
Right reason, wrong train. Gold because at the time of the Signal 25, Silver already had the extra car. Gold's car 6 went to Silver instead of Gold, and they never replaced it.
Ok, I want to make sure I am understanding you correctly. Are you saying it was Gold that burned? Because after reading
THIS I decided to see if that person was correct, soI called myself and asked a CM in the shop and they said the same thing. It was Silver, not Gold that burned.

WDW - Up to 12
Seattle - 2 Trains, 2 Drivers
DLR - Max of 3 Trains at once, 3 Drivers
Magic Mountain - If it ever ran anymore, I think they had 2 trains at a time. Don't remember if it had a driver or not. I think it did...
Miami Metro Zoo - Has a Monorail? Cool... Again, dunno if it has a driver/operator or not.
Las Vegas - How many trains and Drivers/Operators?
Yay for Monorails.org and their listing on North American Monorails.
Though I don't imagine that the number will ever be much higher then 20 people at a time. Unless the right things happen in the next few years and such.
Las Vegas = driverless??

I think that it's because Silver already had 6 cars (before Gold got its 6th?), and the extra car that would have gone to gold was used to replace one on Silver??

God burned?!?! Oh, wait a minute. You transposed two letters. Never mind.

Yes they are like the monorails at the Disneyland in Japan. No drivers. Let me see if I can find that video.

Can't believe I didn't know about that fire. The only incident I remember was a bad lightning strike (Black I think?) a while back...maybe in the late 90s since we didn't live in FL yet.
My doctor here in Celebration drove a monorail when he first moved down here. Now he was a monorail step-up around his office...very cool. I love having a monorail pilot for my doc...only in Celebration!

Actually nonDisney personnel seem to know everything there is about Disney. You name one thing that they do not know about. There is nothing Disney can do that would not cause them to lose patrons and a big stink if they had a hissy fit. The info mostly is out there for anyone to get.
