This brings back lots of Ariel's Grotto memories. We have a rock with an Ariel statue on it that serves as a fountain during warmer weather. The top where Ariel is is above my head (so about 5' tall). I can't tell you the number of people that put their kids up on that rock to take pictures when the fountain is not on. There is a hole in the rock for the water to come out, but they don't care about that and get mad at me when I tell them to take their child down. Never mind the hole, what if their kid fell? 5 feet is a long distance for a baby or toddler! It's a shame that we can't have nice decorations that are a part of the theming we are known for out of fear that people will think it is a stinking jungle gym!
Oh gag. I HATE the Grotto. I always got stuck being the "under the umbrella, keep kids off the statues, and keep people dressed" attendant when I was there. And it's not just Grotto. The same thing happens at Pooh's Playground. On Friday, one of the attendants had to run over to tell kids to get down off the big Tree, while the parents were watching. I swear, what is wrong with parents?

Yes. But since when has ropes/chains/ect kept people out of anything?

Amen to that!!

Err, once we figure out the science on that...
Ha!! Good luck with that. :D:

I think this title requires a minimal amount of explanation.

I have seen around water areas where people strip their kids to nothing on. It is not that uncommon for parents to at least take off the shirts.

For an SGT that 101 a ride check the arse.

I can't count the number of times parents would totally strip their little darlings down to their birthday suit. Then I had to hunt them down and tell them that their kid had to have some clothing on.

I wonder if Tokyo Disney has a different policy - or at least no CMs at the fountain in the American Waterfront of TDS have intervenes when kids strip down to run through the fountain. A different culture at work?...

OK, the OP on Board X has posted a YouTube video (not hers) showing the offending honeypots.....Still not at all sure how her kid got caught in them, but it appears that they are there for decoration and not meant to be sat on or near.... DLR CM's,are they still there ?

It is apparently a meet and greet area.

They have the pictures here.

HEAVY GRAPHICS

There is a stone wall and in front are some small pots. Apparently the area is open to the public when characters are not present.

If you really wanna keep kids out of a certain area, plant cactus--the kind with long, sharp spines. Take my word for it, from an incident I witnessed when I worked at Knott's, it is one blunder an SG will not repeat! Of course, you'll then have to deal with the question, "Is that real cactus?" Say, "Sure, wanna sit on it and test it out?" :D:

I seem to recall that there are some Catus plants at Disneyland, possibly near Big Thunder? In planters?
