Like Hermione said, it is a great starter, but you need to be able to verify your information with academic sources. I am getting my Master's of Arts in Education and am planning to teach 4th grade- the year when students learn how to do research papers in my state. One thing that we have to teach kids is that just because it is on the internet does not make it true. While we can use websites to research at my University, by far the most preferred sources are peer reviewed Journal Articles published within the last seven years. How's that for specific?

I have edited Wikipedia myself. I run a fansite for a book called Tunnels (which is being billed as the next Harry Potter). Whoever wrote the initial entry for the book on Wikipedia definitely made some major errors. My information comes directly from the authors themselves whom I've been in contact with, and I was able to edit it. Thankfully nobody has tried to edit my edit.

Thanks for that site GP.. I have been reading Realityland and it mentions quite a bit about the other proposed hotels.. Also just seeing the advertising for the time period is just plain cool.. I will have to go through that site when I have more time and I'm not "on the clock".

Ah, yes, the 70s-- I remember them well. Everything was either yellow, green, gold or avocado. And it just figures that during that time period both lemons and avocados were being heavily promoted. The Era of Bad Taste, as it were. Don't get me wrong, I like both lemons and avocados as fruit, but the colors must be used carefully, or it looks really tacky. Even back then I thought the colors and patterns were tacky. One of the few times in my life I was ahead of my times. Like the wood paneling of the time, gold , yellow, green and avocado furnishings really date a place. And it doesn't make the person who chose those colors look good, either.

There is this miniscule little town about half an hour from where I go to University. Our Catholic Newman Center stays in the former rectory for retreats. To get an idea of how small this town is, the rectory is in the middle of town and we have to be careful going outside when it is hunting season  . The rectory is straight from the 70's. It has green shag carpeting that makes you feel like you are walking on grass, brown chairs/sofa, a faux wood table with the vinyl covered chairs in combos of green brown and yellow, a period clock, and the coupe de grace: the most recent picture of a Pope on the wall is John VI.

The clock may be a sunburst clock, it's been awhile since I've seen it.

We collected the S&H Green Stamps and the Blue Chip Stamps. Might be worth Googling to see if they're still around. I don't remember any Yellow Stamps. You used to get the green ones at the grocery store, the blue ones at gas stations.

Yeah, but DL's Big Thunder Mountain really is a killer/decapitator!

Oh, and we used to have Plaid Stamps in IL.

Which is kind of funny, as that is DW's favorite!
