I think (with no data to back up my feelings) that the difference may be how close the APs live to the parks. I suspect that the majority of the DL APs are held by people who live within an hour of the parks, and a high percentage of those within a mile or less. This would give the AP holder more of an attitude that this is a "personal recreation" park and thus they feel they own the park. Much like you would concider the use of your local park district park. In that later park you would expect them to cater more to the nearby residents than to visitors passing through. So it comes out in an attitude of "I live here and so you owe it to me to make me happy". If you are "walking around the corner to the park" you may have the idea that you come first and the hords from outside the neighborhood need to get out of your way.GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:WOW that is suprising. We have been AP's for many years now, but when we go, its usually DW and I so we don't notice people being SG's, and wouldn't know if the hold AP's! Thats too bad!! Perhaps they should institute "pulling" the AP's from people that are habitual complainers, as it wouldn't seem worth the hassel to the CM!
Like I said before, the only thing I get "extra" is a small discount on some stuff, but I get the same discount on a Disney CC! (oh, and "advanced" notice of stuff going on sale!)
At WDW, the majority of APs are actually held by people who live out of state (and many out of country). If you have to travel a couple of hours or more by car, or take an airliner, the visit is much more of an event and a "vacation". Thus an AP is more of an indicator of being knowledgeable enough to recognize the monetary savings (and a few possible discounts) over other passport types. We know we are there as a visitor (albeit a frequent visitor) and thus any little benefit we gain is a plus. Of course there will always be those who will always be a pain. Who seem to feel they deserve to be the king of the world and are not happy unless they are treated as if they were. These are generally the more outrageous SGs we laugh at here. But luckilly those are in a vast minority.
I have no proof of my speculations above, but it seems to make sense in my head (I know, not a real solid recommendation). Any other ideas or "factors" to add to the speculation?
